I believe it's because she removed alot of the sch activities that students felt was important and basically removed the fun out of the sch n made it too academically focused. Some students feels that she's ruining the sch n taking the life of the sch away I guessed :yikes: :frustrated:[/quote]The principal removed the school's Sports Day.Jackal7\" post_id=\"1886712\" time=\"1543318059\" user_id=\"173813:

There is an online petition for the current principal to be out of tkss. Not sure what’s the story behind it. :siam: -

TKSS focuses on Math. They send their talented students to Math Olympiad competition.
We're also looking at it but what I don't understand is why they accept Science DSA as they don't seem to have any special programmes for Science.i.love.to.learn\" post_id=\"1910650\" time=\"1557998605\" user_id=\"94436:
Anyone applied for DSA to Tanjong Katong and has experience to share?
Category 1: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)
Applicants should demonstrate strong interest and drive to excel in STEM.
Have portfolio or other indicators that demonstrate aptitude and passion for STEM, attitude for Inquirybased learning.
Achieved consistent and excellent results for Mathematics and Science in Primary 5 (Overall results) and
Primary 6 Mid-Year exam (overall) results.
There's no representative from TKSS for Science Olympiad . -
Can i chk if TKSS keeps parents involved or aware of wat is happening to their child may it be good students or average students? Is the school a caring school?? What is the support given for students that meeded help?
I have a daug in a nearby school Sec 3, tat does not focus much on getting parents involved. Eg this year covid, totally no meet parents. Not even zoom or phone calls to update on kids well being!
No cohort briefing. Only newslettwr via PG. This is really ridiculous n unacceptable. -
Does anyone know if a boy coming in not through DSA has a chance to get into the football team? My son applied but didn’t even get an interview. He has been playing since K2.

I think the obvious answer is no one can really tell you the answer.

Apart from students coming in via DSA (1) and those in sec 2 (2) next year, No one knows who else will be in the team. Assuming (1) and (2) together aren’t enough to form the first eleven (and there’s an issue of having subs), the team will naturally have to look anyone else coming in not through DSA. Similarly, if your son is playing in a position that the team is lacking, he will have a good chance of being in the team. -

I guess my question was, do they generally bring in enough to complete a whole team via DSA or only a small number. Given their strength in football, I assume it's closer to the former?

The people in the know may not spend time in this particular thread, in this particular forum. Usually your child's coach, or your network of football parent kakis would know. Have you asked around there?
The next best source (if they're willing to reveal) is the school itself. Here are the requirements listed on their website: https://tanjongkatongsec.moe.edu.sg/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Direct-School-Admission-website-info_2019-1-April.pdf
I am not sure whether they accept players from private clubs. But you can call/email the teacher to find out. Also how many they interviewed/offered CO/WL this year. -
Hi nms1,
maybe get your son to call this football Cca Tr in charge.
Come to Secondary school journey,
Teachers prefer students to take charge of their own life and demonstrate ownership of responsibility in their Cca activities and in their own studies planning.
Secondary school Teachers prefer students to ask them questions directly if they have any question.
From TKSS school website, find out who is this Cca Tr-in-charge of football email address, can get your son to write an email directly to this Tr-in-charge, using his own personal email account, to express his strong keen interest in football and ask if he can possibly join in the team. Wait for email response, from this Cca Tr in charge.
If the football Cca Tr-in-charge, upon seeing your son so interested in football, this Tr can help to arrange for the coach to assess your son’s football skill -

TK Sec football coaches are well-known figures in the local football scene. If your son is playing since K2, and I assumed for an established club since his primary school doesn't seem to have a football team, his coach would probably know them. It shouldn't be too difficult for his coach, if he's tuned in to the local school scene, to know who are the players being lured by the school.
I guess my question was, do they generally bring in enough to complete a whole team via DSA or only a small number. Given their strength in football, I assume it's closer to the former?
That said, football is a large team sport. Each C (or B) div team is largely made up of 20 to 30 players. There is no way a school can and will bring in that many via the DSA process. While DSA players are expected to be the 'key' players, it's really down to the individual's attitude and skillsets that determine whether they make it to the playing team. -
For new Sec 1 parents, there is a WhatsApp group that has been created from those in a FB forum so if you want to join please message me and I will send an invite.
