[quote=me6328 post_id=2004249 time=1606351350 user_id=187791]Hi, I was wondering if anyone got email from sst regarding admin matters (booklist, purchase of textbooks, uniform, macbook). So far I haven't received any. Also, does anyone know when will we receive the email?
I am also wondering what third language does sst offer cos my child is eligible for it.
Lastly, do you think going for third language or higher chinese is better? Both have 2 points concession for o level if pass.
3rd language option is already mentioned on the letter that come with the PSLE result. check out the envelope. my son was given malay, arabic and bahasa indonesia. but we didnt want to opt for it. -
Hi, there is no walk in to purchase textbooks, stationery and uniform this year due to the pandemic.
You may wish to refer to school website for more S1 registration info -

Can anyone advise what does SST look for in a student’s academic result? A* in Math and Science? I am looking at their Supplementary Intake Exercise. Thanks in advance.
-
I am also looking at the supplementary intake exercise. As an outsider, my first impression of SST is a school that provides more hands on work than other schools. Hands on projects that is, not (just) paper based planning projects.
I have heard feedback that Sec1-Sec2 students from the school do not experience more hands on exposure compared to other schools.
Separately, I visited a poly open house before covid 19 and 3 independent feedbacks from poly students were of the view that there was (not is) no difference in hands on project work between a SST and a non SST student.
So it seems to me that SST seems to be after a predominantly textbook/ MOE syllabus (?) type of education. Not saying that theory learnings aren’t important but what exactly is the unique advantage of SST vs non SST schools ?
Is it on offering Biotech, Electronics and Computing O level syllabi that most other schools don’t offer ?
The other thing I am interested to know is about the supplementary intake. Are they purely looking for candidates who are confirmed interested to join SST, subject to interview outcomes ? -

Not everything got 2 points concession for O level
1)
If you clear O-level Higher Chinese, you get 2 discount points for your L1R5. This is correct
2)
But,
if you take 3rd foreign language (Japanese / French / German / Spanish) at O-level,
you don't get any discount point whatsoever
3)
But,
If you take MSP or CSP at O-level, you get 2 discount points for your L1R5.
Singapore wish to encourage more Secondary school pupils, to learn MSP / CSP
MSP : Malay special programme
CSP : Chinese special programme

Hi, do any of you know where to purchase the S1 textbooks. There was a link given on sst website(http://www.asencio.com.sg/) to purchase textbooks. But after create account, the items shown were only Sec2,3,4 textbooks, Sec 1 textbooks cannot be found.
