?... I've never heard kids' teachers recommending tuition. In fact, they often reiterate: stay focused in class, revise your work (eg. reading through teachers' feedback in the marked assignments), & approach the teachers if still in doubt...

Given feedbacks to improve... you know, it can be interpreted as parents should help encourage your kids... and we all have different ways of encouraging our kids.

Yes, some students do go to a separate class during Chinese lessons, although I'm not exactly sure what the differentiating criterion is. Prob their PSLE results for CL (and maybe HCL).

I thk its their T-score cos my child did not take HMT in pri and only got A for chinese for PSLE but she is in the beta chinese class. But of cos she did struggle initially
