      Thanks macflashpay!

It seems strange for graduates of a Math & Science school to go for medicine instead of engineering... but different strokes for different folks 🙂 I'm happy for them.

Maybe we should have a School of Medicine in Singapore?
      Dear Chief Kiasu,

It really isn't strange, if one knows the curriculum of school well and how broad it is. It allows its annual cohort of 180 to excel in whatever area they want to and the students are not \"straight-jacketed\" into pre-conceived pathways. A little known fact is that the school also has a very good Art and Music program, which some graduands take together with their Majors in Math and the Sciences.

Each year, the cohort also produces a very decent number of students (relative to its size) who do Law as well.

Thanks for the info! I guess "Science" is a catch-all phrase which includes medicine then. As long as there are exciting options for students to aspire towards, it is ok.

Eh....sorry i blur..is this new? I tot Science always includes combination of Physics, Chem and biology? Many scientists works on medicine and vaccines etc.. how is it that Maths and Science students= Engineering only? and not = STEM including Science(phy, chem, bio), Technology, Engineering and Maths??? suddenly I machiam got brain freeze.. bam! hahahaha :imcool: :imcool: :imcool: :? :? cannot comprehend.. maybe WFH too long.

Anyhow, A levels or IB or NUSH Dip, as long as they are all passionate in that area and can contribute.. who are we to judge right? Doesnt mean All kids who goes into 1 school generally becomes that 1 occupation mah! If they abide by the Hippocratic Oath then we welcome medical students to help us fight viruses and diseases...

Congrats to the newly matriculated NUSHies!

Sorry, sorry… must be my stupid aversion to anything biology that warped my thinking. By the way, does biology automatically links to medicine? Noob here.

              Yes, congrats to NUSHies.

A credit in O level Biology is a MUST for applying the post of nurse trainee during my time (in 1990). 😄

Just happen to read this thread. During matriculation, we were told the Dean of Medicine at NUS also sits in the Board of Governors at NUS High. So you can see the strong link there.
