Those PSC offers were made before the A-levels exams, so it was based on the promo results.

For law/Med, you would apply after the exams and so they will look at your A levels results, ie. the RP.[/quote]
Oh ya, I recall a friend telling me potential PSC scholars will be on MOE’s radar very early. Then should be starting from JC1.

Thanks. I think so too as if one doesn’t even hit say RP80, law/med courses won’t even look at you. Given the school’s median is already 88, not to mention RI and ACSI, can feel the competition for coveted courses is really tough.

lol no idea my kid hasn't reached that stage but if reddit is anything to go by, the early admissions seems to be by stages and offers can be received from before A levels to after results are released?
Not sure about PSC though, whether you have to apply to be considered.

Any JC1 parents here? This year's orientation seems to be very very fun, with no more Covid restrictions.
Have fun during the 2 years JC life at HCI. While the level of difficulty in subjects get harder, study hard but play hard too & leave a good memory here. Orientation is the best memory they enjoy during the first year, next not forgetting CNY & Mid-Autumn celebration which is the blast of all. Last week they even have faculty dance competition. The school starts to get very happenings with no covid restrictions which are a good thing.

DD enjoyed the orientation, lost her voice completely towards the end but extremely high. I think this year C1 batch is very lucky to be able to enjoy all the activities without covid restrictions.

I do find the 2 years in JC to be like school life on steroids. It's like 1st 6 months chiong CCA, next 6 months chiong exams (BT, Promo, PW). C2 chiong A levels. Really chiong all the way.
😂 school life on steroids. My dau told me they even discussed joining which CCA can squeeze out more time for resting.

Peer influence is very important, everyone in Hwa Chong is like so gan jeong, environment making her like gan jeong too as compared to last year.

Those HCI college students that take it to heart what the school told them about full plate and don’t compare, should manage better.

All the C1s and those C2s involved in orientation seem to have had a blast! And they played so intensely many are sick / recovering lol 🙂 The Faculty and School spirit seem quite strong to me. But it is different from my time (no Faculties during my HCJC days, though sports day also had 4 groups so to say.)

I think the CCA tryouts/sign-ups are in full swing now.

wow....i guess this environment is not suited for every type of student but i guess my blur child just did his own thing and found a way to cope with JC. so far, my kid doesn't find the environment at HCI toxic but did share that there are some students who find JC challenging (emotionally, mentally, self-esteem etc).

Agree….. each at his comfortable level….
For the record, my kids are more interested in the choiced cca than the leadership opportunities they accord.
