Each determination is on a case-by-case basis. If I were chairing the committee, there are two kinds of considerations: 1) if we admit A, we know for sure that A will take CL (in some form) during the IB years 5-6, and A will almost certainly score 7 points, which is good for A's results; 2) if we admit B, we know that B is an excellent student who does not have to take CL at all if she passes HCL at S4. This means that both A and B will do well, but B has more options for the IB, since passing HCL (which she certainly will) meets MOE requirements and she can then do ANY language she wants for IB second language.

Which student would I pick? I'd pick B if forced to, but if I could, I'd pick both. That's not to say that the current MGS team would do what I'd do, of course.

I suspect MGS would invite both. However, life is uncertain, and things change.
        Understand. Thank you.

Will like to know how to go to sba class? Is it allocated by school or we can appeal to it?

          :thankyou:
We heard, SBA prog has been discontinued, from this year sec 1 batch (2023) onwards. You may wish to post further questions directly to sch at open house / talk.

When is the open house usually held?

Since the difference between affiliated COP and non-affiliated COP is so big, are these girls streamed into different classes from Sec 1? If those who entered with COP AL8 and better are in separate classes, how many classes are there? Do they use the same lesson materials/books as the other Express classes? Would appreciate any details. Thanks.

Total is 10 classes of 32 students each.
4 classes of IP, and 6 classes of express.

From this year sec 1 onwards there seems to have some changes. But if you refer to sec 1 booklist, maths textbook used is different for some classes. Can also compare ib vs express booklist.

From what I observed, those in non SBA classes, caught up and those in SBA switched to non SBA in sec 2. so it is evident that psle score is not cast in stone for many kids.

They have robotics lessons in sec 1 and coding in sec 2 for everyone.
Swimming as PE lessons for a term every year.

The website recently uploaded the briefing slides. Very informative. Check it out.

Open house shld be in Apr, May.

Thank you for the stats. Is there a place where we can find number of seats in each sec school for admission in 2024? Am looking stats for other schools as well.

                Thank you.

Will need help: could you compare NJC Junior High and MGS IP? Their strengths and not-so-strong?

                        ...

B has more options for the IB, since passing HCL (which she certainly will) meets MOE requirements and she can then do

                        ANY
language she wants for IB second language.
                        ...
                        just want to highlight that

when MGS (IB) students go up to Year 5 (ACSI IB) or when JAE students after O-level join ACSI for IB in Year 5,
this part about \"Any\" language for second language written by above person (autolycus), is ... FALSE.

                        Why ?

                        Because

                        Take note -

For Year 5 students who are interested in German (as an example illustrated),
IB (ACSI) does not offer, in Year 5.

Don't offer German, in Year 5.
                        But Yes,
do offer Spanish & French, in Year 5, though !

                        If u don't believe,
                        feel free to
clarify with Principal of ACSI [IB], directly.

The telephone number of ACSI, is here. You may contact the Principal for clarification, directly :-
