The Language Arts subject that students take in JH1 and JH2 is continued in JH3 and JH4, with a greater emphasis on advanced language and literature skills.
Cool Cat, thanks for the reply. So they do Language Arts in JH 1 & 2. What about in JH 3-4 (or Sec 3-4) Is it still language arts? If they aren’t strong in humanities, they won’t have to do Advanced Humanities. But can do double/ triple science. And there isn’t a standalone subject: English literature, am I right? Thank you 😊
The Language Arts subject in JH3 and JH4 is designed to build on the foundation laid in JH1 and JH2, with a greater focus on critical reading, analysis, and interpretation of literary texts. Students will study a range of literary genres, including poetry, drama, and prose, and will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of literary techniques and devices, as well as the historical and cultural contexts in which texts were written. -
Will need help: could you compare NJC and MGS? Their strengths and not-so-strong?

Sorry to barge in. Coolcat, from your replies, I am guessing you have a child currently in NJC.

Would appreciate if you could share your/your child's views of the school, culture and also reasons for choosing the school please? If you prefer, you can also PM me. Thanks. -
Hi,
My child is keen in applying for DSA , AEP to NJC. If successful, she has to take AEP for 4 yrs. I would like to know what are the subjects combination that can be selected together with AEP at JH 3?
Thank you -
Hi, just wondering if anyone submitted DSA application to NJC?
Those who have children studying in NJC, could you share how’s the school culture like? Thanks 😊 -
My parent friends shared this AI chatbot that apparently can answer any questions a kid has, not sure if legit or not.
The site is askmeedu com -
hi, I know someone posted this answer before but I need more detailed answers. my gal in JH1 now and till now they have not started any essay writing yet. and from what I see from the booklet, it seems like no essay writing will be done this year. I am concerned if the school preps them well for the A level GP in terms of essay writing and comprehension. I still think kids still need practice and whether the school is teaching them to skills to write well and if there is sufficient practice in school. their website also does not state much explicitly about the LA syllabus. if not I may have to outsource to tuition centre.

Hi Parents.
Can anyone share their experience as to the kind of commitment (or workload) is expected of kids going in through DSA STEM? What extra commitments are expected of them?
Thanks -

My child is shortlisted for an interview. But now we are not sure whether to accept IF she gets a CO…
This forum has been rather quiet since 2020. Am trying to find out more about NJC culture and how the school is like.
