Good afternoon
My boy got his PSLE result AL 21 ( Group 2 or 3)
Math - 3
Science-6
English-6
Chinese-6
We stay at Tampines. As we can choose group 3 and 2 . Is it better to choose good school for group 2 or average secondary school for group 3?
He like NAS so have plan to choose:
1 NAS
2.Dunman Sec
3 Pasir Ris Sec
4. Tampines Sec
5. Bedok Green
6 .Bedok South or View
As his COP is 21 , May I have some advise if it is more suitable go to group 2 as higher change to get it compare to group 3?
For group 2 means need to learn for 5 years . Is it possible to finish in 4 years if he has a good performance in his subject due to SSB system?
We are abit confused as he can choose group 3 or 2 .
Thank you for your tips and advise .
Really appreciate -
if the first choice and second choice not selected by the school then they will move to the third choice that we select ? thank you.

Congrats on getting a good score for her PSLE!
Hi all,
My DD got AL12D.
If distance is not an issue, which school shld apply first?
Nan Chiau SAP (cop12) or PLMGS (cop13)?
Anyone can feedback on school cultures/teachers/students for PLMGS vs Nan Chiau vs St Margaret?
Thanks al
I attended PLMGS(Sec) a while ago. If things haven't changed too much since my time, PLMGS has a lot of really caring teachers, many of whom are alumni, and a strong emphasis on Christian values and character building. Morning devotions, weekly chapel and a religious emphasis week before Good Friday are highlights in the Christian ministry programme. We would also pray before major exams like the O levels and get a lot of emotional support from the teachers, Christian ministry team and parent volunteers. I would highly recommend PLMGS for that reason.
The subject combinations on offer are varied with options for triple sciences, 2 pure sciences and 2 humanities as well as combined sciences. Studying literature at any level is mostly compulsory at upper sec apart from triple science students. As a school with a strong reading culture, we would have silent reading in the parade square most mornings before lessons, and compulsory subscriptions to newspapers and magazines like National Geographic.
As for the facilities, we have a modern concert hall used for chapel sessions as well as school-based and external concerts. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra occasionally perform there. This is in addition to a school hall, indoor sports hall and a sheltered parade square. The school canteen is a really inviting space, and swings can be found inside or nearby for those with a playful spirit. We have a school gym and if things haven't changed, a really helpful gym instructor. Many CCAs are on offer, including niche CCAs such as the harp ensemble which I was a part of. However, classrooms and labs can be warm, with the majority not having any air conditioning.
As PLMGS admits most of their students from the primary school, there is much variation in the COP for non-affiliated students year-on-year. In some years it went up to AL11 or even 250 in the old scoring system, so putting it as first choice won't guarantee a place. However, girls coming from other primary schools are welcomed warmly, and many of them settle in well and make good friends.
Also, PLMGS might not have as strong a Chinese programme as Nan Chiau where everyone takes Higher Chinese, if that's something you're looking for. I remember that in my cohort there were only a small handful of students taking Higher Chinese.
I hope this is helpful for you as you make an informed secondary school choice for your daughter. -
Hi Parents. Anyone familiar with Singapore Chinese girls secondary? Didn’t pay attention to this school, my daughter got AL8, and COP for SCSG is 8, considering to have a try. We stay at Clementi.
For RV, I heard the JC is not very strong, some of my neighbors kids give up RV and chose Nan Hua instead. -
Do you know if N(A) and O Level pupils get to mingle a lot during school hours, e.g. recess, CCA time?

This was already the case for me before FSBB. Now they get to mingle a lot more, by sharing some of the same classes!

Hello parents,
My DD got AL9. We went to both SCGS and CHIJ Secondary and she likes them. SCGS's past 3 years cut off were 9,8 and 8. CHIJ Secondary, Toa Payoh's cut offs were 10 and 11. Both are affiliated schools for O levels (SEC).
Do you think is risky to lose CHIJ as the second spot if we also lost SCGS as the first spot as for affiliated schools, it largely depends on how their primary school fared?
I am in 2 minds while my husband thinks is risky. 😅
Would you also put CHIJ as first choice and not consider putting SCGS first?
Thank you. 🙏 -

Based on your school choices, I am assuming you live in Punggol or Sengkang. Why not cast your net wider and consider other even better schools, since your son has a very good score of AL9?
good day!
my kid got the PSLE total score of 9.
Math 1
Sci 2
Eng 2
Chi 4
we thinking to apply following options at the north east area:
1. Nan Chiau High School
2. Edgefield Sec School
3. Yusof Ishak Secondary School
the kid likes to play chess... but actually spending most of his time on phone, seems no stress at all even before PSLE exams. sigh
Qs:
what are the chances of getting into Nan Chiau?
any other suitable schools could recommend?
thanks much
Consider the following schools:
1. Victoria School (offers chess as a CCA)
2. Catholic High
3. St Joseph's Institution
4. Temasek JC -

The vast majority of fsbb schools choose to have mixed form classes. That means each form class will have G3, G2 and G1 students. They mingle during the fun lessons like Art, cooking, music, etc. They only split during academic lessons like EL, MT, Math, Sci, Humanities etc.
Do you know if N(A) and O Level pupils get to mingle a lot during school hours, e.g. recess, CCA time?
But a small number of fsbb schools choose to group the classes according to their chosen cca. Do find out more from your target school. -

Congrats on the good result. With al9, and from those you listed, I guess you live in Pg/sk. I would definitely suggest you check out Anderson secondary (AL10) in amk which after an open house visit and read up, it's a good school to consider.
