      Hi,

anyone knows what is the level expected for Strings CCA. My girl is in G6 ABRSM and intends to play G5 pieces for audition. She is in G5 theory.

      Thank you.

        Once u score AL 4,
you can attend any Secondary school in Singapore that you wish (desire), regardless of SG citizenship or PR. Thus, your daughter will be admitted into IB (MGS), her first choice school, based on your list (above). Congratulations !
I better don't count the chicks until they are hatched.

My biggest worry is that they have only 120 slots for IP. Less slots taken up by DSAs, maybe left with 100 slots. PSLE was easy this year. I will not be surprised that there will be more than 100 AL4s vying for the slots. May boil down to balloting.

You over think, you over worry yourself un-necessarily ! Please get rid of all these wrong, anxiety thoughts, out of your mind !

All of you out here, in this public forum, tell me :-

If students with AL 4 cannot even get into their desired school,

          Then,

Who else, can get in ?

Won't you (those students), those with AL 5 or AL 6, worry & panic even much more ?

Definitely. Head down to Bibi and Baba before the long queues start forming. They’re able to advise u what and how many pcs to buy.

                  Answer -

                  1)

During S1 posting by MOE computer algorithm for PSLE students,

the only criteria to enter Sec 1 MGS is that you meet the Cut off point.

                  Note the
PSLE AL score for MGS applicants, either for IB or for the O level track.
                  By the way,
this MOE posting rule apply to ALL Secondary schools throughout Singapore, not just to MGS Girls' Sec school only.

Does the MOE computer program bother to even check what religion, is your kid from ?

                  NO, it doesn't.

The computer posting to Secondary schools' algorithm DONT bother, what religion u have.

                  Example
                  =======

All they care about is ...
What is the MGS Cut off point, for IB track and for O level track

                  And

does your kid meet this Cut off point ? That's all.

Answer: AL 6 points (for IB track)

So, does this answer your question?

                    Answer -

                    2) However, suppose your daughter’s AL score is at the exact Cut off point right at the boundary of AL 6 Cut off point for IB,
                    then

she will be subjected to computer balloting, in the event demand exceeded vacancies.

If suppose she got balloted out, and suppose she make an appeal for IB (MGS), then when she submit the Appeal form stating her religion, the Principal will note this down, because they will look through every single detail submitted inside the "Appeal" Application form.

If during this Appeal process, suppose your daughter gets short listed or invited to come down for an interview,
                    then

Principal will want to hear from both u and your daughter : why she want to choose MGS ? That is, provided your daughter is able to get short listed, because many other applicants with AL 6 on the dot Cut off point for IB, will also be appealing concurrently as well. There is strong competition, even in the Appeal process.

                        First time here.

After posting result is out. Besides go buy uniform, what else can be done? We wait for instructions from secondary school? Via PG? We call them? They call us?

                        Please enlighten. Thank you.
