      Hi chenlaoshi,
Just curious if you know if this is typical HCL results for RI? Just kind of surprised that the results are quite different from RGS where distinction rate is typically 60%. Hearsay only 6 students in RGS got C and below this year.
      No, not typical.

What Chen laoshi showed, is only for 2023 Sec 4 RI batch (born 2007). That is, for one single batch only .

To know whether typical of RI or not - then, you will need proof / evidence of the performance of

      a) 2022 HCL (O level) batch, born in year 2006

      And

      b) 2021 HCL (O level) batch, born in year 2005.

That Is, refer only to the most recent 3 years.

Unless Chen laoshi can show or support with proof / evidence of (2022 + 2021) O-level HCL performance, otherwise, even Chen laoshi himself also cannot answer to you, whether typical or not.

Remember. In a public forum, nobody can conclude typical or not, unless backed up by evidence.

      ==================

Again, the very moment u use the word \"hearsay\" means ... is a rumor !

Therefore, you mentioned typically that RGS got 60 percent distinction rate, also need to be ... verified. Is it true or false ? Then, u will need to produce evidence for everyone in this public forum. Not based on \"hearsay\".

Show all of us out here, with supporting evidence that RGS indeed produced 60% distinction rate for 2023 (O level HCL), born in year 2007, then, we will believe u.

      Why?

      Because

      You hearsay 60 %,
      X, another person, also hearsay 50 %,
      Y, someone else, also hearsay 40 %,
      Z also hearsay 30 %

      Tell me.
      Which hearsay, is correct ?
X or Y or Z or you, is correct ?

      By the way,

      newbieks,

your daughter is also born in 2007, right ?
I am sure when she received results on

11 January 2024 that very day, RGS class laoshi would also have informed your daughter, born in 2007, how the overall entire school cohort has performed for gao hua.
So, since your daughter is from RGS, from 2023 O level (HCL) batch, why don't u produce an image for all of us to see out here, In the same manner, what Chen laoshi has produced for RI boys.

Then, whether heresy or not, everyone can verify the truth here, for RGS girls, sat for 2023 HCL (O level)

        Hi newbieks,

The last time I saw official figures for RI O Level HCL results was regarding the 2020 batch:
        https://www.ri.edu.sg/highlights/story/gce-o-level-results-release
\"97 per cent of students offering Higher Chinese passed with 5 in 10 scoring a distinction.\"

2020 O level batch is long ago.

          newbieks,

Your very OWN daughter had just sat for 2023 last year O level batch. So, she has already received her HCL results most recently, 2 weeks ago,

          on

          11 January 2024.

And I am very sure that her RGS class laoshi or HOD would have briefed the entire RGS cohort, their HCL overall performance.

Can you produce the imaging for 2023 O level batch, born In year 2007, so that we can compare apple to apple,

          Since

What Chen laoshi imaging produced, is for the MOST recent last year RI boys 2023 O level batch, and NOT for 2020 O level batch.

That is, compare apple to apple,

          Not compare apple to oranges

Are these not shared with parents of current students only? Why are they posted on public platform?

Hi, anyone know how is the students grouped into their various sec 1 class this year? Are geps in same class? Are all AL 4s same class?..

In their class, do they stay in the same class throughout the 4 years? If they are regroup in sec 3,do they change their sch houses too?

                    Thank you if anyone knows.

Regarding the admission to year 3 in RI, how many students do they typically admit a year? How difficult is the admission process?
