IF the parents do not appeal, the school will NOT do anything. They are merely trying to please the parents. Please don't blame the school.Jenn:

You have been given the opportunity to reduce the uncertainty and accepted it. You are expected to keep your end of the commitment.
What value are we teaching the next generation ? Promises are meant to be broken ? What is honour ? If you signed a contract, you are expected to keep it.
Kids only ? The adults are making the decision for the kids. Let's not kid ourselves.

While we see many parents trying to get their children into a more preferred school after accepting a DSA offer, the same behaviour is practiced by the schools themselves.
It is no secret that the schools readily take in students with good PSLE scores through the appeal process knowing very well that these students have accepted DSA offers else where.
We expect parents to do the honorable thing but this is difficult when schools do the opposite. If schools do not accept students with accepted DSA offer in the appeal process, it would be fairer for everyone.
For me, if schools are so altruistic and had wanted to please the parents, NUSH, RI and HCI would not have held their DSA on the same day and could have shown more flexibility and understanding to the kids who had to rush from one school to another on the same day. This despite many parents asking them for alternative dates. -

Several, not all, of my DD's friends who applied under the same sport were invited for interview at NYGH next week. My DD was not called. From what I can gather from this forum, NYGH does not grant interviews for all DSA applicants. Getting an interview may not mean she is successful or not successful, and not getting an interview may mean one is totally in, hence no need for interviews, or totally out, also no need for interview. I can only say that I am glad that the selection process for sports DSA for NYGH has started so the wait should not be too long from now - another week maybe? At least we can finally get an answer.
So far NYGH seems to be starting the DSA process for GEP students first, followed by mainstream academic last week, then by sports DSA this coming week. Also interview or no interview does not seem to mean much, as the experience of ningy shows.
No news so far from DHS too.
Thanks, Gleemom, for sharing. I totally agree with your views. Will update if there's any news. Let's keep our fingers crossed! -
Thanks mathsparks; and we really :thankyou: that u've generously shared ur DSA experience and gave us wonderful ideas on how to prepare the portfolio - especially mainstreamers like my dd.
Thanks to all KSPs who have shared their experience and tips on how to prepare portfolio plus up-to-date DSA news. -
Getting really jittery as we count down to the \"arrival\" of DSA results
Anyone got new updates of good news  -
Hi, Does any one know if i have not received call from NYGH or email from RGS until today, it means we dont have to wait any more?
My DD applied for both schools via Academic path. But no news so far...
Would appreciate it if anyone can let me know. thanks. -
tingtingmum:
In the previous tea reception, RGPS dominated the group. DD has 11 classmates going this wednesdayand twice as much from other GEP classes. So, I'd say, quite alot...? :?
Hi ningy, thx for yr reply. DD's session is at 5pm too. DD's 2 classmates are also invited for the same session. do not know how big the group is. hope they will enjoy it.ningy:
Yep, DD's GAT on 17/7.
tingtingmum, tea session at 5 pm ; how abt yours ? Wonder how big is the group and is DD supposed to go around and talk people - she's shy (luckily no interview; she was so relieved but upon hearing abt the tea session; she frets again...).
According to website, interview session is still going on; so still got chance. -
Angelee988, tot GEPers already had their tea session ?? so, this wed there’ll be many people ? from ur dd’s sch, already got 11 + 22 = 33 ? wow ? which sch is that ?
