Anyway, if any mummy is interested, it is a long....... waiting list. The centre supervisor says most likely they will call up all parents somewhere in Nov and will interview the parents. Priority will be given to needy families first.

      Good news, cantbear12 and all!!!

Rcvd a call from the centre supervisor that they are able to confirm my waitlist!!! Going to check out the place this weekend!

      :congrats: chergaby.

        Hi autumn82,

SO exciting, right? The next 2 months will come and go quickly.
Your DD should enjoy the orientation programme. Get to come in full MCS uniform and meet form teacher & classmates.

          Hi Tinkerbelle,

Do you know when and why did MCS stop their sec school intake? :?
Otherwise our dd would be able to enjoy the benefits of affiliation.
          πŸ˜‰

          Hi,

I'm actually an \"old girl\" - gosh that sounds awful! Anyway, I was there 10yrs - Pri through Sec. All levels shared the same building and it was really nice. They closed the sec levels when they tore down the old building 10+ yrs ago. Sad.

We were so small there were only 2 classes per sec level. But that meant that practically everyone knew everyone or at least almost everyone's names. And yes, we've churned out many eloquent speakers like Jean Danker and Margaret Lim and also many other successful women.

10yrs ago I organised our 10th Yr Reunion at the new sch building where your girls are now. It was nice to see the school upgraded to cater to the needs of the girls now but I think most of us missed our cosy old school. Can't believe I'm in the midst of planning our 20th (!) Yr Reunion next month! I can still remember my time in sch vividly, hard to believe that most of us are mums now (some even with daughters back in MCS). One thing for sure, none of our parents were as \"ON\" as you guys! Maybe you should rally for the reopening of the sec sch! I think many \"old girls\" like myself would be more than happy to back such a petition!

Anyway, all the best to you and your girls from an \"old girl\"! :rahrah:

          Hi Amberz,

Nice to see an \"old girl' here, still taking an interest in MCS. You ladies really live up to the sch motto. It's truly heart-warming to see some \"old girls\" still visiting the Sisters at the convent and volunteering to bring the Sisters out on a regular basis. Most impressive!!

Wow! 20th Year Reunion!!! Must be a great sensation to see old pals again after so many years. Good luck with the preparation.

Sounds like a good idea to rally for the reopening of our sec sch but I guess with only 2 classes per sec level, MOE might not think it's viable to run the sch. :moneyflies:

            Hi Tinkerbelle,

The sec schs u mentioned are all with pri sch affiliation, guess it will be quite competitive to get in... must really work hard for PSLE.

Wah, am I thinking too far... dd haven't even start P1... :slapshead:

            .[/quote]

I also share the same thoughts and predicament as Kerbaya. How to tell whether our gal clever or hardworking enough at this stage...?

Well, they can always start the Sec Sch on a new campus and run it like any other sch. Of course being govt-aided, that means we'll all be getting lots of memos for donations and fund raisers! And if they make room for the sec sch within the current campus, it'll mean less room for the pri. But I guess that's for MOE and the school to deal with if it ever comes to that. πŸ˜„

                      Hi cantbearit2,

I agree that you should opt out of the dental prog. if you feel so uncomfortable about it. Just remember to remind your DD that she's not to have any dental treatment at sch because the dentist will sometimes ask girls to go for dental check-ups during recess and/or before lessons start. If your DD is not aware, she might just hop on that dental chair.... :politebleah: But not to worry, I'm sure the dentist will check the consent form.

Ya, quite a few forms to fill in during orientation but I can't remember the exact number...sorry. If I remember correctly, there is a form to update pupil's details, a form for Edusave Fund, a Giro application form for paying fees, Dental consent form and a consent form for catechism lessons.

Don't forget to bring NRIC for both parents and bank account number for Giro form.

Ya, need to make payment on Orientation Day. Don't know if there will be a price hike next year, but this year, we paid $77.50 (for those taking Chinese) and $63.50 (for those taking other Mother Tongues). Breakdown of fees: Gymnastics fees for the year-$60, Report book-$3.50 and subscription fee for Chinese 'hao peng you' (35 issues)- $14.
                      Hi Tinkerbelle,

                      :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:
