      Thanks Walterp.

How sure are you about these insider figures of 10%, 15%...at NUSH? Do they really reveal the actual numbers? (I did see the NUSH admission site about the 90% admission thro DSA)

With last yr's COP of 257 and with probably some of the successful DSA students seeking out of NUSH, I'm wondering what are my DS's chances of making it to NUSH, with his score of 265!
      madhub,

With 265, I'm quite sure he will get his place in NUSH. The problem remains - your dilemma, still not sure whether he should be in RI (believe he will also get in) or in NUSH since you apply for both. Since you already apply NUSH, he will have to forgo his RI position. Sorry, don't be :x :x

hi Sun_2010, I have emailed to you ๐Ÿ™‚

That's good for him. I think to some people, NUSH is the \"only\" and obvious choice ๐Ÿ™‚ I am glad that NUSH is there during my son's time (2007 PSLE). I think one reason NUS High does not participate in the S1-posting is, she wants to attract students who clearly prefer NUS High over other schools.

On another note, I know of someone who got 263 (2007 PSLE, A* in Math & Science) and applied to NUSH after PSLE, but was rejected. Subsequently he accepted the 1st choice school in the S1-posting. Then after the reporting day NUSH gave him the offer as some people had rejected the offers, but he could not take up the offer anymore as he had already his 1st choice school. I also know of any girl who was offered by RGS only in end Feb as a vacancy arose when a girl left RGS to go overseas. Hence, there will be a lot of changes (like musical chairs) even after S1-posting results are out.

Dear Madhub, you mentioned that if candidate is accepted by NUSH , by dec 15th, information will be sent to MOE and and that will affect their S1 posting. How sure are you and where did you get the information as we have been told today during the open house that NUSH and S1 posting are two separate options. Do you have insider information that we are not aware? please enlighten.

ARE there ANYONE WHO has the experience of being accpeted by NUSH and not getting their 1st Choice even though they met the cut off points of their 1st Choice IP school?

Hi Wisdom333, I do not have the experience. But I think it is logical that the S1-posting and application to NUSH are two separate exercises that should not affect the outcome of one another. It is important that students be given the choice between NUSH (if accepted) and the school posted under S1-posting. I think it does not make sense that a student needs to take a risk when applying to NUSH - that he/she if accepted by NUSH then cannot take part in S1-posting. Not likely.

                Hi,

May I know roughly what will be the cut off point for nus high this year?
Yesterday went to nus high, and the principal said its 250 and above, but I reckon it will be higher.

                thanks.

Iโ€™m given to understand that, the very purpose of NUSH declaring their results a week in advance is to get the students to commit. Once accepted, it is relayed to MOE to reflect in the S1 list. If both S1 & NUSH lists are left open, thereโ€™ll be recycling of both S1 & NUSH lists, which they may not be happy to entertain.

Parents of NUSH students: Pls share your experience on this.

As for COP, NUSHโ€™s site says it was 257 last yr. Since the spread has reduced this yr, the COP could be higher.

In previous years, NUSH PSLE admission and S1 are two seperate excercise. Accepting NUSH offer does not open up a place for the other school via S1. It opens up a place in the other school for another student to be accepted via the appeal process. So when you accept NUSH PSLE offer, you are actually transfering from your S1 posted school to NUSH. When you reject NUSH, they may call someone who was previously rejected in their PSLE selection phase. So there are some students who were rejected by NUSH PSLE selection who later gets an offer during the last few days of dec. Yes it will be musical chairs during the last few days of dec.

When NUSH notifies a student of his successful admission into NUSH on 15 Dec, is it a notification or an offer? Meaning, is the student already admitted or is he given the opportunity to wait for the S1 posting results to decide.

To apply for NUSH PSLE selection, you need 250 and A* in both math and science. So basically the principal is not saying anything.
