I'm given to understand that, the very purpose of NUSH declaring their results a week in advance is to get the students to commit. Once accepted, it is relayed to MOE to reflect in the S1 list. If both S1 & NUSH lists are left open, there'll be recycling of both S1 & NUSH lists, which they may not be happy to entertain.

Parents of NUSH students: Pls share your experience on this.

As for COP, NUSH's site says it was 257 last yr. Since the spread has reduced this yr, the COP could be higher.

In previous years, NUSH PSLE admission and S1 are two seperate excercise. Accepting NUSH offer does not open up a place for the other school via S1. It opens up a place in the other school for another student to be accepted via the appeal process. So when you accept NUSH PSLE offer, you are actually transfering from your S1 posted school to NUSH. When you reject NUSH, they may call someone who was previously rejected in their PSLE selection phase. So there are some students who were rejected by NUSH PSLE selection who later gets an offer during the last few days of dec. Yes it will be musical chairs during the last few days of dec.

When NUSH notifies a student of his successful admission into NUSH on 15 Dec, is it a notification or an offer? Meaning, is the student already admitted or is he given the opportunity to wait for the S1 posting results to decide.
When NUSH notify student, it is an offer. Unlike DSA, student do not have to accept until after S1 posting. To accept, student has to notify S1 posted school that he is transfering to NUSH.

You have NUSH and another school from the S1 posting and you get to decide between the two. So no worries, really.

Thanks Jenn. That, if true, would really be a bonus! But what I’ve been told is otherwise.

I hope u r saying this from your experience in applying /admitting ur child’s to NUSH.

Child went to NUSH via dsa 2 years ago but this had been mode of practice in previous years.

Why don't you give NUSH a call? You'll have a clearer idea then.

Dear All, so it seems like what Jenn said do tally with what NUSH said during their open house on last Saturday. What puzzles me is Madhub comment that she was made to UNDERSTAND OTHERWISE. Just wonder where is the source ?

Dear Madhub, do you know something that is not open to outsider? Please share. thks

I don't think at this late stage, MOE will NOT allow you the luxury of \"two birds in hand\".

This is quite unlike DSA exercise where there is another DSA preference option stage where you determine 1st/2nd/3rd choice of your 3 COs.

If you apply NUSH/SOTA PSLE posting and S1-posting together, and If NUSH/SOTA offer you , it is an admittance to the school and therefore overwrite your S1-Posting . NUSH/SOTA posting may be independent but they are still a part of the overall posting exercise where every child will be allotted only one place. MOE will not give you time to choose between the two birds. If not, the posting and allotting exercise cannot conclude.

Come Dec 22nd, every child will be allotted a place and by 23 Dec they are supposed to report for registration. Of course if a child get his place in NUSH and the parent insist on RI S1-Posting rights, he/she can continue kpkb exercise with MOE after that.. :?

(Read from page 25 onwards). This is what I gathered:

NUSH notified students of their success in gaining entry into NUSH on Dec 14. There was a tea session on 21 Dec where the letters were handed out. Students had until Dec 23 to hand in their acceptance letters to NUSH. Dec 23 was also the day students had to report to their schools for registration.

Which seems to imply that the students do have two birds in the hand.

If current parents have more info, do share.

Is there an actual posting that highlighted the case where an NUSH/SOTA student also has a confirmed S1 RI/RGS posting simultaneously - a case of 2 birds in hand on the 23rd Dec ?

I agree with your thinking, that it would be odd for someone to have two birds in the hand. I don't think anyone posted in the forum here about two simultaneous school postings. But the dates do seem to imply that it's possible. Guess we have to wait to see what happens this year if no past year parents have info.
