hi 25hrmaid

after much much consideration, i have decided to put my son with the following choices:

1st: Maris Stella
2nd: St. Andrew
3rd: Tanjong Katong Sec
4th: Nan Chiau
5th: Zhonghua
6th: Xinmin

my wife wanted (and wanted) to put SJI as 1st choice. what’s your opinion and anyone can give me some comments as i still can amend one time before 3pm today.

our initial plan was to put Chung Cheng (Main) as 1st choice. however, after considering his CL2 standard, we decided to take it off.

please help? still worry about our choices made. thanks in advance

Hi vynx

Sorry, I have read so many posts, answered so many questions, and PMs the last few days that I have absolutely have no idea what was the score your son got for the PSLE, but if my memory does not fail me, I think you son's marks is a bit off from SJI's COP right?

My take is that 2 points from a dream's schools COP is worth a try, but anything more than that, I would classify as \"can try, but risky\".

Hope that helps.

I have a query. My son scored 258 +2 for HigherMT Chinese. He wants to put RI as the first choice and HC as the 2nd choice. Let's say, RI seats are all filled up. I understand that MOE will ranks students according to their aggregate score. So he will be ranked below student A who scored 259. Student's A first choice is HC. If student A fill up the last vacancy of HC, when my son's turn come he will have no more place in HC. How does +2 help in this case? :? please enlighten me.

if i am not wrong, when ranking students for SAP school, your child will be ranked above the one with 259 without HMT.

I was told that he went to mind stretcher for tuition.

In Good Morning Singapore talkshow last morning, Alex’s mom said he attended tuition for English, Chinese and Science.

Cheers!

According to my child's math teacher who saw on a website, it is possible to score higher than 300 but it's quite difficult.

The formula of the T-score goes like this: 50 + 10((raw score-avg)/s.d.*)

In other words, there is no max total. But it depends on how well the whole nation did, compared to your child.

*s.d. -> Standard Deviation

Hi,

My postings got lost. My girl attained 260 so just wondering if she would stand a chance to get into RGS.

Please share your thoughts.
I think probably even a good chance to get in. I read in another thread that COP for RGS would come down (everything is not confirmed tho)

tryunited:

advice from anyone?
my dd scored 247 + 1 (HCL), my school selection is:
1. CHIJ St Nic
2. Cedar
3. TKGS

pls advise. risky to select St Nic as first choice???

Since your DD's score is close to St Nics COP last year, there is a risk. But no harm putting it as first choice, since posting is by merit. But I think you have to exercise your choice for 3rd and 4th school carefully also. Cedar COP is 246 last year, not sure if it will increase this year.
I'm making a gut-feeling guess that Cedar's COP will be higher than St Nick this year. If you can't make it to 1st choice, likely can't make it to 2nd choice either.

Bear in mind St Nick has affiliation to pri sch. So if St Nick pri cohort has done well this year and most of them are staying, fewer places are available for non-affiliate.

yes agree with lizawa your 3rd and 4th choice very impt.
