Manuka Honey

actually, for sore throat, it is more effective if you just have it straight from the bottle (not diluted), let it stay at the back of your mouth and dissolve slowly before shallowing. And do not drink anything for at least 5-10 minutes. We're actually on our 3rd bottle
Family came down with cough and sore throat 2 weeks back and we've been drinking manuka honey water morning and night. Really helps to soothe the throat and helps to reduce coughing too. Finished almost 2 bottles during that period for 4 of us.
I usually buy the brand Comvita brand from Unity. Quite happy with the efficacy of the product so far. But I guess any other brand is ok too if it's manufactured in NZ.

Did that too, as in took it neat. But forgot the part about not drinking water immediately. Hmmm.... will remember that next time. But when I had very bad cough, found the honey drink very useful during the coughing fit.

Thanks for the reminder about the sore throat tip.

Hmm...Very interesting! I hadn't really give much thought to using manuka honey. Honestly, I thought most supplements were just a bunch of mumbo jumbo. However, if you guys seem to be responding well to such treatments, perhaps I should give this stuff a try. I'm just fearful that my children will have a bit of a bad reaction to it. I think I'll seek the advice of my children's pediatrician before I provide (for them and myself) any supplements. Still, the ideas are flowing in my head. Thanks, you guys!

manuka honey from new zealand very good for wound healing n health.

My 13 year old has been coughing on and off for the past 2 months. Chest is clear, he just has lots of phlegm and has a sensitive airways. He uses nose spray often enough but i am not too keen on that. I have just started giving him manuka honey twice a day. The thing is will honey gives one diabetes? As it is my son loves sweet drinks.

Is the cough worse on cold days?
I notice my #2 coughs more or has persistent coughing towards the end of the year period. Recently I forced him to wear socks to sleep (he sleeps with a ceiling fan, moderate speed), and also to wear socks to walk around the house. I also fed him with Pipa Gao twice a day (diluted with hot water, he sips the mixture slowly). Now he does not cough, only stuffy nose with slightly sticky mucus.
My elder boy has been wearing socks to sleep since he was a toddler. He has outgrown his sinusitis and asthmatic cough. So the colder weather does not affect him as much as the younger brother.
