Hi Ksasalways, which 3rd lang is your son doing? My son will be doing Jap, wow the books are really ex ! Any idea how will they be travelling to MOELC? Hope the sch provide transport.

He will be taking msp which will be conducted in school. No book by far and was actually told there was no need to report yesterday. Anyway, ...

For the transport, a confirmed no for transport by school. This was mentioned in previos thread and also by the prin durin q&a at dsa session.

Hi Ksasalways, my DD is in Sec 2 tis yr. He is oso doing MSP. For Sec 1 last yr, they have 1 textbk & 1 wkbk called ' Interaktif. The teacher will inform them when to buy the bks. Towards the yr end exam, they were told to buy a Malay dictionary. Class is on Tues fm 2-5pm or 2.30-5.30pm, can't rmbr which is which. Intially it was on Tues & Thurs but they decided to combine into 1 which I'm in favour of.[/quote]Thanks for the info...

Yup, the malay teacher who attended to us on 30 Dec told us that lesson can be 2 hours, twice a week, or 3 hours one a week.

Well, I hope it can be done once a week ...

          Day 1 of orientation…

Took the public transport with my DS to HCI this morning…all smooth and easy. Arrived just before 7am.

Saw all the excited faces and can tell that they are looking forward both to familiar faces from Primary school and making new friends.

Could hear the senior cheering at the background…they must have put in huge effort for the Sec 1 orientation…salute! & Thanks

Am I right that they have a screening test today ?

Hi, I just had my orientation today.

I reached HCI at about 7.10am. Then registered and proceeded to Kah Kee Hall. (I was in Group 2)

Then they started off with the "bomb game", followed by going to the auditorium for some speeches. Then we had to practice our cheers. They made us shout loud (very loud =X) The two student leaders could shout louder than the 20 of us, and they made us practise it until it was perfect. They promised Strepsils tomorrow though, haha.

Followed by flag painting, then it was lunch. The queue was LOOONG, and by the time I sat down to eat my food, the student leader was like, "Hey you have 5 minutes left." I was like 0.o what? I ended up not finishing my minced pork noodles =X

Next was the learning of the school songs (I think. If my memory did not fail me.) The music teacher was strict, but quite funny at times. (If you remember the lights going out, haha.)
Then it was the amazing race. They had games like trying to drop a bamboo stick horizontally while keeping it straight, tossing plastic bags filled with water, passing a ping-pong ball using spoons held in the mouth and etc.

Then it was the EP3 briefing, then debriefing and dismissal.

Overall it was quite fun, quite looking forward to tomorrow.

PS: I’m Zhi Yuan, if you know me. =P

Last night DS was chanting ‘willow willow willow …’ & telling us Dr Hon said this & that, & that the queue at canteen was very long. He came home hungry as lunch was the only meal he had in sch. Think he is still used to having recess breaks.

He is looking forward to the water bomb game tomorrow. Maybe in addition to extra clothings, should also get him to bring a pair of sandal so he could change when coming home in case his shoes are soaked.

There is a form regarding transport to MOELC only on Thu. We’d like him to sign up, but we wonder if it’s too early to commit as we don’t know yet if CCA will clash and thus lead to a change in his 3rd Lang day.

The list of CCA options are given to them in the Orientation booklet. They will be given a choice of 6 options to be ranked in order of preference. Among the 6, at least one from Sports, one from UG and one from Clubs and Society.
