Intensive revision in sept for psle
-
Jennifer:
We did Science @ Modular Edn Centre (Bt Timah Plaza). My elder boy asked for it, he was not too comfortable with the sch Science teacher then. The tutor did a revision of topics from P3 to P6, concentrated on open ended qns. My boy enjoyed the lessons and told me he learnt more from the tutor.
Thanks, Jennifer. I'll need to evaluate if DS will need any intensive courses based on his CA1 and SA1 results this year. Best not needed as these courses are usually expensive and I really don't like the idea of last minute intensive drill. Well, let's play by ear and see how it goes.
During my elder boy's PSLE year, I enrolled him in a crash course for Sci in the Jun hols.
I wont wait till the Sept one week hols to do intensive course. Might be quite unnerving for the child if he only knows by then what he does not know abt the subj.
Jun hols is a better choice as whatever found to be lacking can be caught up way before the Prelims/PSLE days.
Can you share which crash course is this and do you find that useful? Thanks. -
I think Sept to attend intensive seem a bit late and I worry will make th chidlren too tired. Cos need to take note that 29th Sept will be their 1st paper to sit for.

June will be the most timing if wanted to. -

Ya, infact I told ds by Sept should be done all revision and jus see through notes or yr worksheets to refresh but stil struggling there doing assessment. School told us by July will start revision. CA1 will just coming on it's way.... -

Yes. The CA exam will be started end of February. I hope the school can finish the syllabus before end of March and they can have plenty time for revision and save us money for those workshop. -

A thorough revision should start now! Since PSLE is 8 months away, consider to allocate two months to focus on each subject. For example focus on English In Jan/Feb, Maths in Mar/Apr, Mother Tongue in May/Jun, Science in Jul/Aug etc. All subjects are equally weighted, so a balanced set of good results in PSLE will be the best bet to get the best sec schools by merit.

Agree! Revision should starts now!
How much time does your child spent each day after school and on weekends to prepare for PSLE?

NB:
For me, in term 1 i would spend 1 hour per day and 2 hours on weekends for revision. During the hols, i do 3 hours + 1.5 hours of practice. And as the exam date nears, i gradually increase by 20mins each term. At sept hols i revised + practiced 5.5 hours a day. About 10 days before the main paper i stopped, only doing around 30mins per day and 1 hr on weekends to de-stress myself as i (and everybody else) should have finished revision of everything by end of term 3.James Ang:

Looks like a well balanced approach.

Thanks for your insightful sharing. At least I get a better idea on how to plan DD's schedule in preparation for D day.
Hope you've settled well in your new sec sch.

I find that at the last minute, itβs quite hard to have intensive Maths lessons unless parents are looking more for exposure.
