My girl just diagnosed with Astigmatism and she is just in K1. She has pretty serious Astigmatism over 300 for each eye.

In fact, she was diagnosed by Singapore Health Board Nurses that visted the childcare.
They then refer her to SHB @ SGH. Due to her serious Astigmatism, they then refer her to NUH again.
Optician won’t be able to diagnose for children under 7 years old.
They need to refer to the eye centre where a thorough diagnoses will be carried out. It requires eye drops on the child.
Unfortunately, the only help for her now is wearing glasses to get her vision corrected.

I think myopia is hereditary. Both my parents wear glasses and all five of us too. Had seen many parents with glasses have all the children wearing too.

Also to share, I know from a parent recently that her kids are wearing a type of corrective contact lens during sleep to correct the eyesight - for what type of treatment i din ask her. Anyone heard of it?

My son (3 years old) is also diagnose for high Astigmatism (400 and 200). I notice he seems to have difficulty to see the flash cards that I play with him.. hence insisted my private doctor to recommend a eye specialist for a check.. I also did a double check to KK children hosptial through Polyclinic letter.

I just realise that I need presript from the doctor before you can go for the glass with any shop outside. I think this is for child that is less than 7 years old.

I have just prescript the glass for him in AMK near ave 4 area. If this location is good for you. pls pm me and will share the address and tel to you. please call before go and also check with them if you need prescript from doctor or not.

My son, 6 yrs old, just came back with the results of the eye test conducted in his school. The results are 6/19 and 6/9.5 for right and left respectively. He will be referred to for refraction test at the Student Health Clinic. 😒 Anyone know what do these readings translate to i.e. need to wear glasses? what is the degree? Very anxious to know prior to test.... πŸ™

                        HI Miracle Child,

Very likely your child needs a glass. My girl is over 300 and her is like 6/15.
