Apparently there are no parents volunteer during contact time. That's according to my ds. I asked him if he was sure and he asked me for my iphone so he can filmed the chaos of all the kids running berserk and playing without any teachers or parents volunteers around!
contact time. this is when the teachers have a weekly staff meeting and the kids are left in the care of the parent volunteers. 1 hour.happy to be mum:
hi lynnchng
i am also not too sure what does CONT TIME stand for but during the hour 1.00 to 1.30pm there is no class cause class only start at 1.30pm on Wed.
i believe the form teacher takes care of all subjects, it seem to be
except MT -
I understand that Parents used to help out quite a bit. In fact there was even a room for them to chill out.
All this was before this Principal came into the picture …

A friend is a parent volunteer and by all accounts, they sound v heavily involved. My son told me he was read to by Parent Volunteers during Cont Time, and recognized some of his classmates’ mums. I didnt know that this was a new principal but apparently she keeps in close touch with the Parent Volunteers.
I intend to write in about the pathetic excuses given these young boys about skipping PE, if this continues for another week. To date, my son’s PE classes have all not proceeded. At first, it was about some boys misbehaving so the whole class skips, then "no time" as they didn’t finish the prev lesson promptly. I dont ask when it rains. Boys need activity to balance with all that desk work. Surely a boys school shld recognize this. This sends a message to the boys that of all the lessons, physical education/ keeping fit can be compromised.
It’s also sth all the boys look forward to- in the carpool, the chatter is about whether or not they will have PE lesson. Being persistently disappointed will soon erode their enthusiasm and they will may turn to other (possibly delinquent) pursuits to quell their energy. -

I don't think the principal is new. She has been in SJIJ for the last six years? My son told me during this week's contact time they were making some CNY crafts, he even brought a fish he made home to show me. I wouldn't mind volunteering on Wed, but how to go about it?A friend is a parent volunteer and by all accounts, they sound v heavily involved. I agree that PE is important especially for boys, let off some steam! But has PE changed nowadays? My son said they played \"duck, duck, goose\" and \"egg and spoon\". Not very impressive. -
Think there is a PTC, parents teacher conference or something.

Blur, is your son in P1 Patrick? Sounds exactly like mine son’s class, PE was skipped due to some students couldn’t finish work on time, next was due to punishment 'cos some students didn’t queue up properly.
Jessom, yup…me & my husband were utterly disappointed about what PE was all about. My husband(old boys of st mich) was setting expectation about playing soccer during recess. But these days, recess is about going library, bookshop(more for gals right?), luckily the boys started playing catching, think thats 1 thing my boy look forward to in school.
