Hi LeanneHi Brenda and mum1113,
Thanks for all the encouragement.
Yes, will work on mcq.DS stronger area is compre, compo and oral.I dont know why.
Regards,
Leanne
You are very Fortunate !
MCQ is only 20m compared to the rest of the components. To improve on mcq, at times ds will practise 'common sense' when face with tricky options. Of course NOT the best prove, BUT it works for ds cos his CL just 'not there' to fully understand the full meaning of the sentence structure, however once I start reading to him, straight away he can answer the qn. So it's a question of foundation.
Curious how does your ds perform well on compre, compo and oral part ? -
Hi Mum1113,
We did lotsa practise on the heavy components.
Write compo , do compre, oral very regularly. As it is practise make perfect....we forgot to focus on close passage this time.

Where do you get digital audio tracks?
Is your son in P5? If so, maybe can try memorizing compo using digital audio tracks+ glossary list+ printed text? My son's compo grades went from 8/20 to 16/20 from November 2010 till now. His teacher can't believe it. He has memorized 19 compos and writes an average of 1 compo in 2 weeks.Pen88n:
DS as usual came back with unsatisfactory EL and CL results. A handful of mistakes due to carelessness, but mostly overall can see language foundation not exactly there.
Anyone has any effective way to try to improve languages from now till PSLE? I know time is short and it is not easy to see results for languages in a short time, but I am hoping for some tips on how to improve certain sections of the EL or CL paper to assist to pull up the overall marks. Thanks in advance for the sharing.
I also get grandma to read 3 newspaper articles with him everyday. -

To remove careless mistakes is always something what we parents HOPE the kids will ultimately learn and reduce to the minimum.

Need to do intensive work with him.
You mentioned writing compo and doing oral regularly...what reference book do you use ? I'm planning to get my son to write a compo every week and also work on his oral from now till SA1. If I squeeze in compo and oral, something has to give but I don't know which area
Comprehension, cloze, synthesis are all crucial -
Carelessness seem to be part and parcel of growing up.
Yesterday, while going thr math wif ds,told him, tomolo, I will not be performing u in the exam, u are going solo, so , all the best for his solo peformance. No pressure given to him, just want to let him know that he must learn how to handle exam condition himself.
cheers

Your answer is correct again. :celebrate:One Less Subject to Slog For,
And 20% More Time to spend on other Subject, Right?

[/quote]Careless mistakes cannot be prevented but we can only hope to reduce, esp in a stressful situation during exam. I've always added up the marks for his careless mistakes and shown him what his total score will be had he been more attentive and be careful.Carelessness seem to be part and parcel of growing up.
