Dear all ,
Need your advice if you happen to know. :?:
In which area there are as much good primary schools as possible within 1 KM? I am looking for an area which has at least two good schools and higher chance to ballot successfully?
thanks -

Are you renting the unit from your distant relative and staying there? If not, what you are about to do will be consider unethical as you are robbing applicants who genuinely stay within 1km from the school a place for their kid. :torchme:
I was just wondering how many parents will behave ethicially in a bid to get their kids to the \"dream school\". There is probably a \"fine line\" on what is right or wrong?
Eg.
1) The parents who purposely rent near the school. Got a place and then move back to their own house after that?
2) The parents who bought a house near the school. Rent out the place to foreigners with no kids so they will not vie for a place in that school. They then based on that address to register?
3) The creative parents who borrow the relatives' address and the list goes on.
I gather that as we do not see publicised case of parents cheating (except there was a case yrs ago). People tend to take it lightly that they will not get caught since everyone else is doing that. It's not easy for the school to find out,etc... I really wonder if MOE does such audits,etc... -
Hi all,
I’m not due to register my child for Pri 1 this year, but I’m starting to think about schools for my kids.
I can send my gal to my alma mata, CHIJ St Nicks, which will be about 30 min drive away or a nearby school like Tanjong Katong Primary School (and guarantee a place for my boy) or CHIJ Katong. What would you choose if you were in my situation? A guaranteed place in St Nicks or risk balloting in a nearby school?
Would appreciate some views on this issue. Thanks! -
Secure a place at St Nick’s at Phase 2A. You can then see if there is any risk of balloting at Phase 2C for TK. And if you’re sure you can get in safely, withdraw from St Nick’s and register at TK.

Is that allowed, I mean to withdraw from an earlier phase and register for another school in a later phase? How to find out the chances of getting into the school before registration?
Thanks! -

Yes u are allowed to do so. To gauge ur chances, go to the school on the last day of registration, bug the staff there how many ppl has registered, how far do they stay from the school, whether is balloting required. After u decide that it is worth to try ur chance at the second school, quickly withdraw from the first one (which u have secured a place at an earlier phase) and register at the second one. -
Btw what does Phase 2B mean?
