      Hi all,

I’m not due to register my child for Pri 1 this year, but I’m starting to think about schools for my kids.

I can send my gal to my alma mata, CHIJ St Nicks, which will be about 30 min drive away or a nearby school like Tanjong Katong Primary School (and guarantee a place for my boy) or CHIJ Katong. What would you choose if you were in my situation? A guaranteed place in St Nicks or risk balloting in a nearby school?

Would appreciate some views on this issue. Thanks!

Secure a place at St Nick’s at Phase 2A. You can then see if there is any risk of balloting at Phase 2C for TK. And if you’re sure you can get in safely, withdraw from St Nick’s and register at TK.

Is that allowed, I mean to withdraw from an earlier phase and register for another school in a later phase? How to find out the chances of getting into the school before registration?

          Thanks!

Yes u are allowed to do so. To gauge ur chances, go to the school on the last day of registration, bug the staff there how many ppl has registered, how far do they stay from the school, whether is balloting required. After u decide that it is worth to try ur chance at the second school, quickly withdraw from the first one (which u have secured a place at an earlier phase) and register at the second one.

Actually, one of the surest ways is to go down to the school personally and check out from the board map on display outside the general office. When we went to the school of our choice to check out the distance, the board map showed that our flat is just on the boundary line of within 2km. We had to check and confirm with the school admin for confirmation that our house is considered ‘within 2km’ of the school. Hope this helps.

                    Hi,

Does anyone has accurate information on the residential projects that are within 1km of Nanyang Primary School or Tao Nan School?

                    Thanks!
You can check out the following links plotted using google map. You can also key in your address or postal code to counter check if you are located within 1-2km from the school

Actually, you don't have to go to the school personally. You can just call them, assuming someone does answer the phone. 😉
