Thank you artfever! I didn’t know they had an open house recently; would’ve loved to attend. I’ll keep an eye out for next year!

We attended the Open Symposium and during that session, we were told that SOTA will conduct audition for EVERY child who applies. So there might be no pre-requisite grade level attained before the child can apply.
My DD just attended the Talent Academy for Theatre Studies on 14 March. I've shared her experience under the DSA thread.

I will not waste time prepare for it[/quote]I went for school visit at SOTA some 2 years ago and they actually take in dance students with no formal dance background like ballet. they have two dance classes for their Year1 - one with ballet background, the other w/o. the kids will have to do ballet in SOTA though. -
2011 - They have total of 8 class each with abt 25 students. They are a mixture of all the 4 art forms. Its only during the specific art form lessons
the students of the same art form meet. FYI, visual art has the most intake abt 60 this yr so they must hv several classes for this students. Music is the least. -

That's a really small cohort of about 200 students. The students must be very bonded.2011 - They have total of 8 class each with abt 25 students. They are a mixture of all the 4 art forms. Its only during the specific art form lessons

Yes, you are right !
Though the students are from different art form, but I can see they are a bunch of high spirit, closely bonded students.
I am very happy to say that my daughter is one of them. Yr 1 Theatre student. -

The syllabus at SOTA is geared towards Pre-IB and Arts-based, so it is different from the regular secondary school syllabus. A couple of years ago, parents were told that if the child were to leave SOTA for a regular secondary school, he would have to repeat the year because the syllabus was so different. I don't know if that still holds today.
