Frankly I believe in children drinking sufficient plain water daily. There is this gal (10 years old/ my neighbour) and she recently found that she is diabetic. How tragic! So young. If china barley works for your kid, then maybe it is better with less sugar. Less sweet, more water, better for health. :lol:

        I totally agree.

        I always give my DD plenty of water whenever I can. I kind of enjoy feeding her water with spoon when her hands are busy with toys or something. It helps bonding.

        Since I was a kid, I will definitely fall sick if I drink a bit less water. I hate to see my daughter suffer like me.
It happened to mine too. She'd fall sick every month. Sick for a week, lose appetite for 2 weeks, well for another 2 and then ill again. Its so frequent that our family physician suggested the flu vaccine. Seems to work for frequency has reduced significantly.

          mine even flu vaccine pd also dun suggest cos my son have sensitive airway.. 😞

          Try to put him through some aerobic sports like swimming and jogging. They really help if you keep at it everyday. Help to build up resistance naturally.
I agree with Chief. Sports is important. My kids did gymnastics, soccer and swimming when they were 4 and above. We also go to the parks and do
          outdoor activities. They do get the occasional flu but not as frequent as what I hear a lot of parents complain about. Also when they do get a flu, they recover quite fast. My family physician told me they are doing well for they have not taken any anti-biotics since birth. Sports is good, the physical exertion can get the blood circulating and all the qi inside have smooth flow. Besides, it's also good for their eyesight as they get to focus far when they do outdoor sports. I attribute my kids 6/6 eyesight to sports. They are in their preteen and teen now.

          Also prevention is important. Keep their bodies alkalised. Be a bad host to
          flu bugs buy taking more alkaline food. Fruits and vege are best. You can try juicing. During hot heaty months, I juice a lot of fruits and vege for my family. :celebrate:

              Recently the flu bug is coming back and a lot of kids fall sick.

              Last week, both my kids "took turn" and had bad throat/ lung infection.

              My doctor advised:

              1. To take Scott’s Cod liver oil (original favour is better) daily, to build up the immune system;

              2. Exercise more. take up swimming to build up the lung;

              3. Eat more fruits and green leaf veggie.Remember to drink more water too!

              Wish all stay healthy especially during this exam period.

              Cheers

              Pink

                    my whole family started on colostrum, my husband and i on the adults version and the children on theirs. we got better after 3 days. my children had cough n cold for 2 mths and we went through the whole entire works with the pd. both were taking turns with the nebulizer, anitibiotics. the whole family had to wear masks to stop the spread even the helper came down with cough and cold too.

                    unfortunately, the childlife colostrum and probiotics from GNC is so ex!! i also started them on the childlife cod liver oil all just to build up their immunity.

                    fingers cross!!

                      Usually when your child is down with flu and cough, how long does it takes to recover? Ds2 has been getting flu and cough for 2 months already. With fever up and down. Took antibiotic twice on separate occasions, weeks in between. Then changed to chinese physician last week, coz he had high fever.

                      Now, still coughing with phlegm and runny nose with lotsa mucus. I wonder what is wrong. He usually recovered fully after 3 weeks, but now, it’s so draggy.

                      Does the colour of phlegm/ mucus say anything. Doc said, doesn’t matter what colour though.

                        glad to see this discussion…so many others having the same problem like mine…my son’s been having cough problem on and off for the past years…yes, he does have sensitive nose, allergy things…to bad. running nose? becz of that. cough? becz of that. blinking eyes? becz of that…all doctors conludes the same and blame the same thing…allergy. could be dust mite…but what i can do with dust mite? i bought vancuum just for mattress dustmite, i wash his bed sheet weekly…that’s all i can do. he had seen GP, PD, lung speciliast, ENT specilast…this and that…still, cough comes and goes. this time it takes 2 weeks and doctor says brochitis, so put him on anti biotics. he’s been on Zyetc for long time, he has nasonex, vetolin inhaler, singulair, zaditen…full of medicine at home and i can memorize all the medicine already…wondering if it is ok to take all these but no choice…sigh! he’s on Scotts Multi V, recently start colostrum. he’s skinny and underweight. but he’s happy, active, eats well (at least i think his eating portion ok). so what more i can do…maybe just have to live with it and wait he outgrow it. I think i will let him swim when he gets well, he’s going to be 5 yrs so can start swimming lesson now.
