Which is why I advocate going to the school personally! It is also to check out the school’s amenities, and its surrounding. I don’t believe there are many friendly and helpful staff to ‘entertain’ call requests especially during this busy period, they may even provide inaccurate information somemore!

Going to school might not be a good idea at this point due to H1N1. Schools are trying to reduce visits from parents/ potential parents.

SLA site as cited earlier is a reliable and good resource. Paying $8.40 for a piece of mind is worth it.

I like the maps by http://www.elite.com.sg - they circle the area within 1kM and 2KM. It's free, but this is only for those 'planning' parents.

If parents are registering, probably much better to pay less than $10 to SLA.

Or those parents trying to get a property within 1km, pls make sure you check this on SLA before the purchase and not based on what the agents said.

To be very sure (especially for borderline cases), SLA has an e-service that will list all the pri schools within 1km to a given property (say your address) but it cost $8.40.
              SLA actually has 2 services.

One (http://www.inlis.gov.sg/PSLS/PSLS-PSL.aspx?strService=PSLS&strProduct=PSL) gives you a list of all primary schools near a specific home address. This service costs $8.40. :moneyflies:

However, if you just want to measure the distance from your home (or any other address) to a specific school, the cheaper alternative is http://www.inlis.gov.sg/PSLS/PSLS-DC.aspx?strService=PSLS&strProduct=DC. This costs only $2.10.

OTOH, I personally don’t advocate making a property purchase based on school proximity either.

Hi, there's another free service for checking on distance.. maybe can compare both..

                  http://www.streetdb.com/

Key in the Postal code on the search menu bar, when the Results is shown, click on the link, and when the map is launch, on the Right bottom of map, under Amenity Search, click under Education Institution. and the distance between the school and home will be shown.

                  Hope it helps.

Well, never thought I had to consider doing that previously too. Now, for the sake of the child, both in terms of sure/better chance to get into the school and subsequently ease of travelling to school, will have to move 😓

MOE takes serious action to those who use false address. Do take own children in consideration as children may be out of school should they make random checks.

This is to protect those who are really living in that area of <1km. Not many have financial ability to rent units just to use address for P1 registration. It will take away a place for children who geniunely live near school.

                      Thanks!
