      N3SKiasu:

I wld like to recommend you 2 books that I bought for my girl and boy respectively by Usborne - \"What's happening to me?\" one (pink) is meant for girl and one (blue) is meant for boy. usually thk cost about $7.50 each. They read it and got to understand their body better. It even taught how to determine bra size 👅
Hi N3SKiasu, thanks for the recomendation. I would sure go hunt for the book. My girl is more on emotion and mood swing. Every time, after her period, I would boil 白凤丸 (1/2) with chicken and she would drink 1 bowl. I think it helps on the cramps as initially her cramp was quite serious but now is better.

daisyt, my daddie bought me hot water bag

to suppress the crampy feeling… i can use
it till i sleep, when the warmth of the water
in the bag subsides without much discomfort.

hi bud, thanks for the hot water tips. In fact, once I was feeling uncomfortable during the first day and my dd told me to use hot water bag. 😄

cluelessmom, don't worry, you are not the only mummy that behaves like that. We always thought our girls are still babies. Slowly, you would get use, you need time ... 😄 I have to keep reminding my girl to use facial soap every morning, and before sleep. She is using neutrogena, fragrance free. I tried so many types but since this is most suitable for her. She has no pimples, but black head on the nose and those tiny oily seeds on the forehead. The body shop hot mineral mask seem to work OK for her black heads. I just apply on her nose and her forehead, once a week or once in every two weeks.

thnks cluelessmom for recommending neutrogena, I will certainly give it a try. Well, at least ur grl is 10 yrs old, mine just turned nine this year. My mum also started her on chicken since nursery days. I knew abt chicken and all that homone stuff but never gave it a second thought as there was nothing else that she wantedto eat. I used to take her to wisma and taka after school to eat chicken rice at least 4 tmes a week for 3 yrs plus my mum cooks chicken and insist she consume the essence. 😢 I pray that her period wont come so soon, thats my greatest fear now.

Hi Moonee, there is nothing to fear about. Just tell yourself, your girl has grown up. 😄 I have a friend, the daughter still has no period at the age of 17. After thorough check up, nothing wrong. I think, this is rather worried for the mum.

BTW, anyone heard about the cervical cancer jab ? My clinic doctor and gynea recommend me to get my girl to jab. I wonder if anyone here has done that for their girls.

If you freak out, it will be even harder for your daughter to handle anything because she can sense your loss and fear. She may even think that puberty is something devastating because "if my mum is reacting this way, and she is a grown woman… omg, it must be a horrible process!"

Always be tactful but utterly honest with your kids. Lay it out for her factually and with emotional support. You’ll be surprised at how much they can handle (and how much youths really crave honesty from adults)
