HPPS increased their total intake from original of 330 to 332 last year under 2C when there were 55 applicants for 53 places under 2C, all within 1km. No balloting was conducted as there were a pair of twins and triplets among them.I guess this is done on purpose.
If they draw any twins in the middle of the process, those twins will take up 2 places instead of 1. So they only have to draw 90 names rather than 91....meaning 7 unhappy parents, not 6.
On the other hand, if they just draw 6 to disqualify, then subsequently found out that there are twins/triplets among the lucky ones, they will end up with too many students then they intend to accept. -
Luanee:
Actually I asked the school admin this. Since there are 7 classes and 6 more applicants than vacancies, why can't each class just take 1 more student. As you can guess, the answer is no. If only MOE could make a concession, it would spare a lot of parents a great deal of anxiety.

No, we should not tolerate. Singapore needs more of a whistle-blowing culture if it wishes to progress as a society. tankee is right, don't just wait for the authorities to take steps, be an active contributor/watchdog.
Or MOE shld get the school's admin staff to call instead. Splitting up the numbers to call and check by each school will definitely deter parents to cheat on the address. Item to check shld include the length of stay there... -
I am a parent whom are now going into the balloting exercise at SCGS next Tues…66 choose 55. So will they pick the 11 odd one out or go thru the whole process of balloting the legitimate 55??
Anyone experienced it before…can share tips? Wife says:"can take the stress"…I says:"don’t worry too much…it’s out of our hands now" -
They would pick the 55…

Yes. This is what the school admin told me over the phone. Did you all not receive calls from the school regarding the ballot ? I got a call from the school yesterday.. They also told me they will pick 91 names from the ballot box and not just draw 6 names to disqualify.
Mgsim,
Can I know if the balloting process can be viewed by the public? ANy idea?
I am planning to enrol my girl in HOng Wen 2014, hence am keeping track now... -

Ryes,
My suggestion to you would be to start PV 2 yrs before your child enrols for P1. Then you will be eligible for Phase 2B.
