If you do decide on driving...remember to get out of the lane right next to the road shoulder, if you see a police car/emergency vehicle(s) there. You need to give them one whole free lane, or be prepared for them to come after you later

there is also a lane for car-pooled vehicles.....

due to strong S$ and weak Euro, sterling, and USD, this is a good time to holiday in those places, never been cheaper before

Still trying to work out the itinerary.

October is still months away, it may be pleasant still. Just check the weather a week ahead.
