Hi,
My girl will be in P1 next year. I've been searching the internet and found out that CHIJ (Kellock) is having a Learning Fest cum Open House on 23 July 2011. Anyone interested to go?
Curious to find out what they have going on there...

Iโm registering my dotter at CHIJ OLQP but we are out of 2km. From MOE stats, they are expecting ballots for those outside 2km but for Phase 2B, 50 registered for 62 seats. What are my chances of getting in?

Hi I need some feedback please. I heard from a mom whose 2 kids, one in p4 n one in p2(i think) In chij olqp, that her gals stay back everyday and on wednesdays they have extended school hours. May I know what do the kids stay back for? Am considering to register there nxt week but wanna know more about the school. Am not concerned about academic performance and do not want my gal to be too stressed too. Any mommies wanna give their advice and feedback please? Thanks so much!

You might want to ask tactfully if your friendsโ kids have learning difficulties and need extra help. At IJ TP, the weakest students are given extra and more attention from P1, sometimes outside of school hours, sometimes in parallel.
Or perhaps they are in a niche CCA and stay back for additional practice? Those who are school team material do practice every day, including weekends.
Whatever the case, you, as the parent, always have the option to turn down the offer for extra classes/additional practice if you believe it will not help your daughter. Most teachers will respect your decision. -
Thaks, beanstalk, for the reply. Errr...abit hard to ask my 'friend\" as she is currently my K1's DD's teacher! Happened to 'bump' into her and saw her kids in IJ uniform so quickly took the opportunity to ask her stuff

I realize teachers will request that weaker girls in IJ TP attend extra class after school hours from P1...they do pay attention to each and every girl and I'm appreciative of that little effort.
My daughter has been identified for Math/English remedial from Term 2...so she stays back every Friday till 330pm.
This school doesn't believe in letting girls drop to very poor levels before identifying them for remedial. -

The extra attention helps. Some kids need time, others just need things explained to them in a different way. A few have learning disabilities.Hi Beanstalk,

I know a girl at IJ TP with high-achieving parents and older siblings (probably part of her problem). She was identified at P1 for extra help and is now doing fine.
