Men say local women are too materialistic

This is not materialistic. It is forward looking. Fathers with daughters would also hope that their daughters lead a good life... and not be burdened with four children (coach for exams, change diapers) and bring in the sole income in some cases. I have a friend in this situation. She did not open her eyes wide before marriage and now, after marriage, she has to close both eyes.

Unfortunately... this is so true. To a certain extent though, we may our own future so it may not be so bad.

Yup, for selfish reasons.
There's this lady I know who has worked her whole life but doesn't have any savings... and her pay is not low.... All her salary will be pooled together with her hubby's for a very luxurious lifestyle.

I have a fren who contributed more to household expenses than her hubby. All her salary goes to the family. Reason:

5. she's the one paying all the household bills - PUB, telephone, etc. (hubby too busy to take care of such finances)

She still ends up buying his clothings for him over festive and sales time too. I used to tell her that her hubby is one lucky fella that finds a wife who 倒贴 him so that he can live a good life himself. He changes handphone whenever their plans allows (which works out to be about annually) and she takes over his previous one. I am like :shock: :siao: - I think she can have a better life herself without having to go thru this.

Now, who is the materialistic one? Doesn't the man ends up better off with a wife who can subsidise his living expenses?[/quote]So what does the husband pay for? Housing loan and car loan?

that sounds rather shallow.marriage cant be about leeching off the other half.if not for love,then at least to complement each others' strengths and weaknesses.
true if those men just look for beauty theyve themselves to blame.but if those women are selling their beauty for cash its just so low...like whore for rent??any case,can any sg woman be truly considered beauty,the skin deep sense?

Since long long long ago, parents have been marrying off their daughters to better off families to secure a better future for their daughter… isn’t that the same?

Besides, now women have the opportunity to have a higher status in the society, so why can’t we ask for a better partner? We are just raising the bar, how can that be materialistic? I say it is the man who cannot keep up with the woman progressing, and thus make such statements.
