d well-regard writer, partner in law firm after serving as President of Law Society SG, n appointed to PSC is common knowledge.
I have a distinct memory of it making the news at the time. Here is a reference, though its not quite so explicit. --> http://infopedia.nl.sg/articles/SIP_453_2005-01-14.htmlWay2GO:
Phillip Jeyaretnam a Sword of Honour winner?
Dis is news to me.
Anybody can corroborate? I stand corrected if I have mis-represented, but I am fairly certain. Nonetheless, he has held or is holding public offices of high standing, such as Law Society president and member of public service commission.
Another one here which is interesting --> http://www.transitioning.org/2009/12/04/from-rank-outsider-to-public-guardian-philip-jeyaretnam-st-5-dec/
Will check on Sword of Honour winner.

So far only one candidate from his running team in GE is still doing the groundwork, and that is Dr Vincent Wijeysingha. Saw him doing some block visits early this month.Yup, DH said that TJS goes where the wind blows...I think he has to be more decisive on whether he wants to run in future GE or PE so that he will be taken more seriously and won't give others the impression of an opportunist.
And whether he contests in future GE or PE, he has to earn his credit by working on the grassroots level first, serving the community. Just talking about the 'heart' is no use. Talk is cheap, but action speaks louder than words. Just my 2 cents' view. -

Iβm terribly confused. Isnβt PA supposed to serve the connection between govt and people and NOT PAP? And the duly elected WP MPs are part of the govt what?
Just as we have to accept the TT as President, these people need to accept that the WP MPs are now part of the govt. -

PE over...so is the replacement holiday (Mon). That's the only good thing about the PE on Sat, although I'm a SAHM, I enjoy an additional day to sleep in. :snooze:holiday over.
back to mundane life!
There is a winner this round, can fight again in 6 year's time if still healthy. Be a gentleman and move on...no point being sore, if you know I'm referring to.
Another long weekend this week and the next - Teachers' Day (2/9), PSLE Listening Compre (16/9). -
That's for the ruling party to answer, not me. In my personal opinion, any good and deserving MP/president (regardless opposition or otherwise), has to earn his/her credit by working on the ground and serving the community and pple of Spore first.
Way2GO:
Wat about those PAP MPs who were parachute into GE n who didn't hv a history of community or grassroots' work prior to being earmark for election?Angelight:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that in the next PE, we will see only one PAP and one candidate who offers an alternative voice (either a moderate like TCB or someone from the opposition). That will be a true test of the PAP's popularity.
