My P3 boy had story retelling last year when he was P2. It was on 5 little firefighters. 2 of his friends came over and we did the props, fire engine, water hose, the mountain,etc... and rehearse and they got the best score. It was also for the fun of it.
I think I'm a little out of touch with the system.... it's so competitive nowadays! I dunno what to do and I dunno what to say.

But at that point, though they have the best group performance with the props, coordination, etc... the kids in the other groups also came prepared with their props as well. Eg. some connected straws and treat that as a fire hose, etc.. some creative ideas.

Yes.... my 2 eldest kids are only 1 year apart and I observed that the assessment criteria is different for both of them. Eg. the P3 had story retelling, recitation, etc... but I thought it was good as it encourages them to be able to speak loudly and clearly infront of a group of people.
My youngest is going to P1 next year and I am sure there are more new things coming up. Though there is no exams??? but already heard of regular topical tests. So it does appear to be more stressful than previously. -
Hi MMM,
How do you find p3 Science?..To my dd, it is hard to score for science exams as it include the marks of science practical test which till now,I suppose, she is not good at. Plus I don't see much Science school worksheet yah

Actually can't tell.... hasn't seen any of the CA2 papers yet and also dunno know the full marks. Practical test to me is a double edged sword. Seems to be in a rush this time round. He mentioned the highest in class is 42 which does seem low. Actually for CA2, we are still missing quite a no. of subjects eg. CL, etc... Is that the case for your dd as well?
For worksheets, they do get those vitamindz (not sure if spelling is correct). -

My dd knows her el p2 marks, maths, cl marks and when I talked to her teacher on the phone last week also get to know her science marks. For science mcq is upon 48, opened is upon 32, and there are 2 science practical tests which is upon 10 marks each..The teacher told me tt one of the science practical is yet to be tested after this 1 week holiday :scared: ... I think the school should have list down all this science components to us in the exam table list so that parents are aware of it.. :skeptical:

For the Maths exams, according to what her teacher has told me, I think there are a number of tricky qns..(base on my dd standard lah)... -

My ds didn't do well for maths this time round. I was shocked and disappointed with the results as that is definitely not his standard. As even when practising top school papers, we didn't get such results. My P4 dd commented that his enopi teacher is going to \"skin\" him alive too  But seriously, without seeing the paper can't tell what went wrong. So probably have to analyse it after school reopens. My dd knows her el p2 marks, maths, cl marks and when I talked to her teacher on the phone last week also get to know her science marks. In terms of the weightage breakout, I got it from the exams topic coverage. But observed some didn't add up to 100. -

On the phone my dd's teacher quoted me those qns that my dd did wrongly..One of them is 'how many 1/3 are there in 8/12'....I was :scared: ...what it means.. :scratchhead: ...I told the teacher that I would not have understand this qns also...Her maths marks also jialet..used to be 90 and + ..but this time round only 75 omg...she said she want to go tuition liao...hahaaa poor thing..

So maybe I shouldn’t be so harsh to him. I had withdrawn some benefits till he redeem himself. I still could not believe the results…
But it’s good that we shared about that here so rather than sulking individually on what happened, at least we know that the paper was indeed tricky. -

I am totally against any group assessment as the children are not assessed individually, even though they may recite as a group. I am ok if they recite or retell the story as a group but marks are given individually.
Sorry if I may sound selfish but my child's marks in P1 was affected by this boy who can't stand still at all.
