      hi

      thanks for your reply.

i have scanned the whole thread, but there is no clear cut answer for it.

i.e. can i move to another property within 1km vicinity?
Sorry, I guess it's not here. Maybe it's under the \"priority\" thread.

Yes, you can move to another property within 1km. If you moved outside the 1km, then I'm not sure.

ADD: These are 2 more threads where I may have read about it.

        hi

I prepare to move near to the school. But after moving still my child may not get admission. so i have below plan, is that leagl?

        1. Currently i own a HDB house. My target school is quit very far from my house.
        2. I plan to rent a house witin 1km to the school to get priority registration. ofcourse I will change my IC and will physically plan to stay in that address.
        3. If it is sucessful, then I plan to buy a propery within 1km from the school and will move to my new house.
        Is it legal?
I thought the OB markers are quite clear - the address you use to register must reflect the location where you WILL BE STAYING with your child during his Primary school stint. MOE will not stop you from moving, especially if you move to another location within the same distance bucket of the address you registered with. However, if you move further away before P3, you may be subject to inquiry.

          Hi,

          I have a question regarding P1 registration.

We used to live sometimes at my parent’s place and sometimes at our home. This was because my children’s childcare centres are near my parent’s home.

We have left our registered address as my parent’s address because when my kids returned from primary school now, they will always return to my parent’s place to be looked after by their grandparents while we are at work.

They are not in any so-called popular school. In fact, my kid is in one of those neighbourhood school near my parent’s place. Have we in anyway broken any rules? Any advice on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

I gathered ur kids are already studying in primary schools now? Did u need to ballot when ur kids were registering the last time? If they are in 'unpopular' schools like what u said, then I gathered the answer is no? In that case u dont have to worry. Only thing is u may want to change the address in ur IC to ur current residential address.

              Thanks Luanee,

Yeah, my older kid is in Primary 3 now and my daughter will be going to the same school next year. When my kid applied for the neighbourhood school, there was no balloting as it was within 2km of the grandparent’s house. However, at that time, byeond 2km there was balloting but the enrolment numbers were just marginally above the available vancancies.

It did not occur to us that this could potentially be a problem. However, should we change back to our own address, would the govt thinks that I left my registered address as it is for the purpose of getting into a particular school?

That means u did indeed used the grandparents' address to secure a place for ur first kid. Mmm... I am not sure the implications of changing ur address now

I own a HDB house and I just bought a fully completed private condo. (Currently tenanted)

Being I will permanently willing to stay in my private property, I would like to apply to the primary school near to (with 1km) it for my daughter 2011 primary 1 education.
(I need to apply during July 2010). But my HDB house MOP (Minimum Occupation Period) is ending only at July 2011. So I can move in to the new house only at July 2011.

I have all the proof for the purchase of private property.

My question is am I eligible to apply to the school under within 1km range using my new private property address?

If you own a flat bought directly from HDB, or a resale flat bought from the open market under the CPF Housing Grant Scheme, you can invest in a private residential property, provided you have completed the minimum occupation period of your flat.

:? can buy private property before MOP is up?

                      for your earlier post:-

your MOP is end July 2011 (as per your later post).
you need to register your child by July 2010.
you intend to rent a place for priority registration - i think MOP means physically staying at your owned HDB, therefore, i don't think you are allowed to rent and stay at the house or change your address to the house address that is within 1km from your target school prior to registration. so while using a rented house address that you intend to stay for registration is legal, i don't think renting a house when your MOP is not up, is legal. you better check with HDB.

                        hi

sorry i think there is confustion. I have changed my plan.

In order to put my question in simply, legally the parent can use the private property address if the TOP is before p3.
Is the same rule apply for completed private property?

                        Note:
I bought my HDB flat in 2008 from open market. Ofcourse i’m allowed to buy private property, HDB rule says i must stay in my HDB house for minimum 3 years and The flat can’t left empty, can’t sublet. One option is i need to sell my HDB flat. but i don’t want to do that.

Just i bought a private property this month which is 1km near to school.
but i can’t move in because i must stay upto 2011 in HDB flat.
but i want to use my new property address for my daughter P1 in registration 2010.
                        is it legally possible.

                        thanks in advance.
