      Would prayers help?

As the descriptions sound quite vivid, I think the child should be taken seriously. Psychologists would call it an overactive imagination, because children have been known to make up imaginary friends and imagine scary things from the shadows that they see. But I think we shouldn't discount the supernatural as well.

Funz, you're handling it really well. :salute:

Not brave or anything. Given the circumstances, I also did not know what to do or if what I was doing was helping or worsening the situation.

And trust me, there was frustration as well as irritation, then there was the worry and the doubts and the constant merry go round of what if…then how?

Luckily for us, DD turned out fine, she is 8 now, no more disturbed sleep and so far, touch wood, no further incidents. She is however a very highly intuitive girl. If DH or my mood is down, she will immediately pick up on our vibes and get insecure. So we have to constantly watch ourselves with her.

DS has been saying seeing "people" in our house for quite some time, we didnt react to it till begining of this year. We decided to let him wear a Guan Yin necklace. An oldwise tale but it seems to work. Some say kids can see what we cant see.

Oh wow. I am spooked. But could it be the things that the kids were doing before they sleep? Like caught a glimpse of a horror movie that you all were watching? I remember I used to be unable to differentiate dreams from reality. I remember watching Terminator and seeing Arnold cut off his hand to show his robot skeleton freaked the hell out of me. That night I dreamt that my brother did the same thing and I ran into my mom’s telling her what my brother did. (My brother sleeps in the same room as me at that time) After that, for a week I didn’t dare go near my brother.

The huge eye might be from Lord of the rings where Sauron always looks for the ring. Hahahah! Just a stupid thought. But who knows right? You never know what would scare a child.

It is said the very old and the very young can see things from other world. I used to keep my grandma company before she passed away near 100 years old. She used to wake me up in the middle of the night saying strange things.

Once, she yelled why an ugly and sick dog is in our room. Another time, she hit my arm so hard I woke up. She said my arm was that of a pigs' :skeptical:

There were many other strange things she said, but after a while, she seemed to have gotten used to them and stopped telling me stories.

I've read from a book some time ago from someone who can see dead people. It is said that the spirits are around us, only we can't see them. These are the spirits that refused to 'go to the light' and remain in our world, lingering around. Some of these may try to find company in the living, or may follow one home. The best way to avoid having \"something\" tagging along in your life is to possess positive thoughts at all times and be at peace (not overly excited so as not to 'give energy' to these spirits.

As parents, we need to be watchful over our children's behavior. I have to admit there had been 'unexplainable' moments my kids had, and I managed to help them by getting them to think good thoughts, like imagining angels and fairies being around to protect them. If it is imagination at play, then the better this works, cos they will imagine the 'monsters' face transforming into beautiful and fragrant flowers and butterflies flying around on a bright and sunny day...so, whether for real or imaginative, the kids learn to have control over their thoughts and fears.

By making them feel they are not alone (when we are asleep or not with them) there is something they can do about these 'strange things', real or imaginative, I think we could help them overcome their fear. Hope this helps..

mel2sg, does your DS watch any horror movies recently or read horror stories? If not, "that" is possible. When i was young, i love to catch a glimpse of horror movies my parents watched or read/listen to horror stories. I was not sure if i was imagining at that time, i seemed to "see" and encounter many of these things. Girl in the posters winking at me (for example), my mum looked like another lady, etc.

Funz, for your case, it doesnt seem to be "nothing".

These things can happen. I experienced these sorts of things personally before. Once it was quite bad - feeling something touching me when i cant see what but it is a "human" touch. This happened when i was sick.

It does not seem normal to me for a child to imagine seeing so many spooky things, I advise parents to bring your child to see the psychologist to seek professional advise.

A child can imagine a whole lot of things, like talking to stuffed toys and imagine them speaking to him. But a normal child should know the difference between reality and imagination and should not be so frightened by his own imagination.

Could it have been shadows that look like something from the imagination?

Perhaps the young child may not be able to distinguish a dream from reality?

We wouldn't know. Normally kids should not be so frightened of his own imagination and if it happens too often then it's best to seek professional advise because there may be serious underlying problems.

I had a similar experience, my dd kept crying and having nightmares when we were at our first house. She was 3. She could not sleep properly and started sleep walking. I myself did not feel too comfortable in the house after a while. We sold it and after that, my dd’s sleep walking and nightmares stopped. It was later that she told me she felt scared all the time and felt someone was watching her. I think some places are ‘dirty’
