Travel: Taiwan - Taipei

Hi everyone, I need some advice on booking train from Taipei to Hualian online. I initially checked up the timetable and realised can only book 2 weeks in advance. Now I went in trying to book for Dec, and after booking, realised tickets have to be collected within 2 days (person not in Taipei yet how to collect tickets??). Can anyone advise how you go about getting the train tickets to Hualian and if I were to buy later, is it possible that it will be fully booked? Any other advice? Thanks

Oops from weather forecast next week will have showers :gloomy: Temperature about 20 degree celsiussunnyling:
Just come back Taipei and had us Mr. Wu for my transfer. He is really very patient and accommodating. His mini Van got no problem to squeeze us, we had 7 adults and 3 kids and we feel very spacious. Except when the airport transfer time which we had alot of luggage and need to squeeze a bit. But if without luggage, the van can accommodate us and still spacious.
Can you pls share how is the weather??? We are going next week and wondering what kind of clothes to pack. -
The 1st and 2nd days rain heavily and the rest of the day is cloudy with occasionally light rain only. Can be quite cold when there is rain and wind. But for me I prefer cold sometime I just wear my Tee.

We are travelling all over Taiwan. do you think those thicker jkt is required???? eg. 3/4 coat??? Or a simple sweater can do the job. -
Yes you will need a thicker jacket especially you are traveling around. You need it especially for the kids.
-
If you can, get those thicker jacket with hood and "windbreaker" type so that won’t get wet too.

I bought my tickets online. If you are paying by credit card, you only need to be at the station 30 mins prior to departure time.
There are many trains to Hualien but if you want to book the Taroko train (express) ie 2 hours 5 mins traveling time, it is advisable to book online. My gf didn't book online but bought her tickets from the station. She took the 3 hours train. If you are not in a hurry, it is ok to take the normal train as you get to enjoy the scenery. For us, we have 3 young children so prefer the quickest mode of transport.Pen88n:

Remember to bring some raincoats for the family. I bought from Daiso, very compact and light. Throw after end of the trip. Don't bother to buy disposables, they don't last.
