CHS 0-level 2009, L1R5 below 10. My ds was in that batch. Above 75% had 4 bonus pts at their disposal. CHS forms the highest external intake for RI in recent yrs ahead of St. Nicks. RI comes to CHS yearly to promote their school to the graduating batch.
Many who stay in the far north and had made it to NJC/VJC (nett score 4/5 pts) had chosen to place themselves in AJC. These students had chosen practicality over branding. -

Thought DS would rub shoulder with those MIW and might be good friend with few of those future leaders in Singapore.
In his future school, not bad also lah. Able to be friends with those rich and mighty. He was happy to see half of his friends in the same sec school and sad to see the other half went to the Bishan.
When my DS was in Pri 4. I told him there are only 2 schools that he should go for this secondary education. RI or HCI. The rest of the schools are “secondary” school. Take a look at those scholars. Either PSC, A* or President scholars, how many come from HCI and RI? Almost 80% - 90%. Most of them go to top uni in US or UK. I ask him should aim high and not just happy to enter local uni and work in the “middle management” level in the future and be happy. Just like a football player, do you think he wants to join Tampanes Rover to compete in Singapore ledge cup or join Man U. or Leverpool to compete in EPL. However, now I think I have to change my view and his.
He always want to be a lawyer, I understand that in local uni, more then 50% of the cohort of law faculty come from RJC (ex RI or RGS), is it true? Those not from the Raffles’ family will be ostracized. Is it true? What is the chances for an IB student to read laws in NUS? What is the percentage of the whole cohort come form IB?

Anderson COP is higher than Nan Chiau. Most likely your kid will get in Nan Chiau 1st choice based on your score (unless Nan Chiau COP increase tremendously this year!)Pen88n:

Parents must attend the orientation on 22 Dec. But don't need to be there on first day in January. Our kids are already in sec school. They should have the confidence to go to the new school on their own. Perhaps just drop them there if you're afraid that they'll get lost on the first day. -

Thank you[/quote]it is not difficult to get to an overseas Uni. Have decent results and have money can already. It is difficult to get a scholarship to go to an overseas Uni.

I know I need to do an appeal but before I do so can I know will the system select my boy first if he select Commonwealth as his 1st choice(even his marks is 181) to a child that score 186 but select Commonwealth as his 2nd choice.
And for appeal does 3 marks has a higher chance?
Can someone advise?
the system will rank on merit,
meaning the system will allocate a place for whoever agg score higher than yr boy first,
before coming to yr boy's turn, regardless of he putting it as 1 st choice or not.... -
btw, the +3 marks for HCl can only be used for selecting a SAP school…
dont think it has much impact in appealing, unless u appeal under special academic, relating to HCL -

I think u shld just put HCI as 1st choice if u really want that sch. After all, HCI's last yr COP was 257 and it's a sap sch so u can also use your 2 hcl pts which means your DS's score will be 259 so there's still quite a high chance to get into HCI. Good luck
Unlikely to get into HCI, so drop it. If u are prepared to travel place NJC as top choice follow by VS IP and DHS. If distance is a consideration, move VS iP to top follow by DHS.joe0599:
My DS has 257+2 and we intend to put following choices:
1)HCI
2) NJC
3) VS IP
4) DHS
5) ACSI
6) VS O level
We live around Kallang.
