Between Yicha and Award Music School which one is better???
                hi J2mum,

I have been to both piano schools located in Katong Mall and I have chosen Yicha for my DD and have enrolled her since Mar this year.

Reason being , I find Yicha having more classrooms, teachers and they are kind of more established. Also, the classrooms look more tidy.

Price wise, only $5 difference between Yicha and Award. Yicha charges $115 per month for 4 lessons whereas Award is $110 per month.

For Yicha , you can approach Victor (he is in the management level) who is very friendly and helpful guy.

                Hope this helps. 😄

                  Hi,

                  I need advice here.

We are currently paying $130 for grade 1 with a established music school. Recently due to anticipated course timing changes in 2010, I had to change their piano teacher. As we don't have the choice, we decided to go with a new teacher who is 23 yrs old. Only she is available.

The kids have been with her for 1 month. My girl is ok as she is the quiet and obedient type. The same cannot be said for my son who is mischevious. Recently I saw on the communication book that she commented that if he don't practise, don't come for class!!! I was shocked and rather pissed. None of his other teachers from this school has made such comments before. They are older (late 20's and 30's) managed to engage him so we saw the improvement in him. Now, he can't really be bothered. On the other hand, there was SA2, so I told her that the priority at this moment is SA2 so the kids will not have time to practise. But she still made such comments!

I don't want my son to because of some inexperienced teacher start to hate piano. I am keen to move the kids back to the teacher prior to this, but on a pte lesson basis. Eg. he comes to our house.

I managed to contact him and his charges is $180 for 1 child. Both are doing grade 1. I know he managed to engage my son and I convinced my girl of changing as it will be easier to jump grade if she is ready,etc... so she seems keen to change now. Is the rate reasonable???? I am currently paying $130 an hour for the school.

Experienced parents, pls share your views. THanks.

Hi MMM, once, my dd's piano teacher sent her home because she did not practise. My dd is 13yo, maybe old enough for the teacher to demand a bit more. The teacher told me \"My job is to teach her, not to practise with her.\" I was shocked initially because this is the first time I encounter such situation. However, after thinking over, me and dd agree with her way of doing. 😄

                      Hi,

In my case, my son is P1 so I personally feel that it’s her job to encourage the child during learning and not create another barrier. None of the earlier experienced teachers have done that before and in the end we saw progress. So it’s not like he can’t do it. Yesterday, he didn’t even want to go for class so we decided to just let him rest till he starts with the new teacher. The last thing I want is for her to "abuse" him again.

I went to the school and feedback about it. There was another free slot with a teacher who is supposedly better/ more experience with children. I changed him to that. Will see how it goes.

                        Hi!

Can you tell me if the teachers teach using piano or the Yamaha Clarinova in these 2 piano schools? Is it better to learn from piano or Clarinova?
