      concern2:

They tend to worry a lot and sometimes too much. They are perfectionists. They can be very critical and have a way with words, which sometimes appear to be harsh, but that is because they feel it is \"for your own good\". Can say more if you want to know. These points are particular to Male Virgos. Anyway, just my hunch, but someone in parliament sure stands out in these characteristics.
      I guess this reinforces why I don't read horoscopes πŸ˜‰ ...

No, not Virgo, and by no means a perfectionist, more a pragmatist.

          Yes!

But we already experienced what highly paid MIW ministers is capable of.. from mas selamat to flood selamat datang to public transport (MRT)..

Take the bas with the good. To harp on failings without recognizing achievement is patently unfair in any book.

Perhaps a good gauge would be to see how Singapore/Singaporeans are faring now (in terms of income, quality of living, \"happiness\" level, etc) as compared with some 6 years ago when they last had their salaries substantially raised?

So, do you feel that we are better off now than we were then (6 years ago)?

I guess we disagree. We are in a strong financial position economically, healthcare standards are reasonable, our kids get educated, crime isn't too bad....I think many countries would kill for all these.

Liat Towers, and old building with antiquated design got flooded, so sack the Works Minister?

How many people got affected by Liat Towers? By the sound and fury on the forums, it would appear that half of Singapore were shopping there that day.

Nah, it's opportunistic bashing. Focus on the minutiae, forget all else that goes on in the background.

They are no means perfect, but if you say the present g'ment has not achieved for Singapore, then may I suggest you are biased.

But in one regard you are right, they have brought this upon themselves....by turning Singaporeans into softies via the nanny state.
I say, the past govt is good.. the pre-2000 era.. they made SG strong and prosperous. Not for the post-2000 generation.

The MRT is good. public transport is efficient. Water is clean. The govt is know for efficiency. These are all associated with the past govt.

Now? GDP up, GST up. rich get richer, companies gets richer, the peasants can't afford a HDB flat..

Also, if the pay is more reasonable, I believe the people would be much more forgiving.. to err is human logic can then be applied.

I felt so sick when I heard about the phrase \"Get out of my elite uncaring face\".. Is this the type of leadership that we are seeing?

Are they more concerned about well-being of the pple? or GDP growth which benefits mainly the corporations and the rich?

WHY privatize public transport? and the result? Has it benefited the pple? or rather, rich pple who are shareholders..

More relevant to KSP forum: The number of students per class now is 40, which is still the same as 30 years ago.

I thought someone said a long time ago that the standard class size will be reduced? They hired more teachers, but where did they go?

There was a time I really believed in the Singapore dream, and was proud of our achievements. Many of us worked hard and chased the 5Cs. The good life was ours if we studied and worked hard. Education was the key to a better future.

Somewhere along the way, I became disillusioned. I don’t recognize who the stakeholders are anymore. More and more things are out of my reach. Many places of recreation are OB, restaurants and branded stores are not for a heartlanders, and nice homes are only to be admired from TV screens. Now I know I was chasing the impossible dream.

It’s still ok. Things started to get worse when I have kids, I had to ballot to get the eldest into a neighborhood school because my recently arrived neighbours all zoomed in around the estate. Many of the mummies had the time to do PV while I was trying to meet deadlines.

Now even my hawker center meals are getting expensive. My kids’ bus fare is expensive. This year, I have to tighten my belt further to pay for classes for my bright kids. Yes, bright. But they dont stand a chance against their classmates who have additional coaching. I know. I allow myself to fall into this kiasutrap. I was told by someone from the school that students must perform when they start school. It is not a place to learn. Learning is done outside.

                  But but... there's a consolation.....

At least, you need not pay for hefty air ticket to feel that you're in another country..

The number of teachers increases.. so does the number of students..

They don't only teach SG kids you know.. read somewhere that the population of Singapore is increasing by about.. 16 every hour or minute?? not too sure abt the figure..

😒 No consolation le... Airfare getting cheaper with all the budget carriers. Just need to buy during promo... On a serious note, my side of town really looks like 'United' Nations. But we are not United Colours of Benetton yet cos we have give and take issues to resolve and some green eye to bandage. Actually hor, the newcomers are lucky. Even when we are unhappy, we don't cause collateral damage or trouble. So tolerant and passive hor?

They replaced the teachers who quit, so we are none the better for having hired them.
