My son just finished PSLE, waiting for results. We are thinking of following schools:

      1. Jurong Secondary
      2. Commonwealth Sec
      3. Clementi Town Sec
      4. Fu Hua Sec
      5. Queensway Sec
      6. Gan Eng Seng

Can someone please help to enlighten on the culture in these schools? My son comes from a neighborhood school, and likes his school and his friends so much. It would be nice to find another happy school, and one that also excels academically, and professionally.
      Thanks. 😎

I thought good schools in the West should include :-

        River Valley High
        Bukit Panjang Secondary
Nan Hua Secondary or maybe even
        Swiss Cottage ???
Actually it will be better if you state the cut-off points.
The above are all neighbourhood schools and I have heard that they are pretty good. RV and Bt. Panjang are IP too.

Nan Hua’s culture is more Chinese but heard that they produced quite good students but sorry to say that they are all hear-say, not too sure how accurate it is. Probably anyone with children in them can share with us the parents. Thank you

I don’t think Bukit Panjang has the IP programme. River Valley has it.

But BP is the best school in Choa Chu Kang .

            Bukit Panjang is not IP.

FuHua is very strong in robotics CCA.

My P6 boy brou back booklet 2 yesterday. Page 6 to 8 (Annex A1) show a list of school with its achievement table for special/express course, page 9 to 11 (Annex A2) schools for Normal course. Take note of Annex B which lists schools excluded from the banding exercise.

From these, we can hv a rough picture of which are good schools.

                Thanks everyone.

As the results not out yet, i can only guestimate around prob 220 - 240.
I checked the list. FuHua, Swiss Cottage seems within reach. Commonwealth too.
Comments on these schools are appreciated. And any sharing of other schools too are welcome.
                Thanks.

Same same for my son, just that i've included Nan Hua in my radar as well.

Would appreciate any info, comments , etc on these schools ...

What about Fairfield at Dover? If your kid is able to handle the distance, SJI and St Andrew also around the range of 240. btw St Andrew is MRT accessible.

                      thanks redred wine.

Fairfield cutoff for non-affiliated also very high, 247, if not wrong.

SJI , a bit far and school fees high. Don't know worth the traveling and the high fees if can get in? :?

the COP for fairfield (non affiliation) is quite high, but the banding is 7 for 2008 and 4 for 2007. The school can't produce good \"O\" level result. One of the reason could be big disparity b/w affiliate and non affiliate, the average score was pulled down as a result. Is this environment good for student esp for those who come from non affiliated schools. :? Can any expert shed some light on this?
