Yes, my DD is also interested to become psl..... Can seniors here advise how one can become psl?

This is a looooong answer, and I'll start with SL first.

SLs are student leaders, and basically there're three intakes, in Sec 1 Term 2, Term 3 and Sec 2. Students hold this position for one term, and can only be an SL for a total of one term (i.e. you can only be an SL once). SLs are part of PB.

At the end of Sec 1, there will be selections for the four main leadership boards in RGS - PB, PSB, Congress and House. PB and PSB selection will be determined in a camp. All SLs will go for the camp, as will other pupils nominated by their teachers. This is the first intake. There is a second intake for both boards at the end of Sec 2. However, the difference is that PSLs have to apply for board membership after every year while Prefects hold the position till the end of Sec 4.

For Student Congress and House, there will be an interview conducted to determine admission. There are 3 intakes, at the end of Sec 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Members of these boards hold their positions till the end of Sec 4.

Other than the four main boards, there are also other leadership opportunities, for example leadership in CCA and in Class. Both have Excos and chairs and are good opportunities to develop one's leadership abilities, so you don't necessarily have to be in the four boards to hold a leadership position.

Just to clarify some inaccuracies. πŸ˜„
1) There are no SLs in Sec 2. Only in Sec 1 Terms 2 & 3.
2) It's not true that prefects automatically get to remain so for 4 years. Sec 2 PITs or prefects-in-training are under probation and a few every year do not get to become full-fledged prefects in Sec 3. Once you're confirmed as a Sec 3 prefect however, you will remain one till Sec 4.
3) Except for Congress, PSB and House have to re-apply on a yearly basis for renewal of membership. Most who have performed well will get to carry on.

Hope this clarifies matters. πŸ˜„
1) Hmmm but I've seen Sec 2s with the green SL badge haha
2) I think Sec 2 PITs are mostly promoted to Sec 3.
3) Yep I think you're right on that:P

2) The Sec 4 batch this year was completely confirmed, even though some people quit. I think that they try their best to confirm everyone and usually those who were not confirmed did something very majorly wrong or were just MIA the whole year. πŸ™‚ I think that my batch is really quite enthu so far so I hope we'll all be confirmed!

3) PSB kicks a lot. ;0 Correct me if I'm wrong but there are very few SPSLs.

Just read the programme n scope notes for math n geography. quite overwhelming

πŸ˜“ i didn't really read mine in sec 1, but i guess they can sound really tough. No worries, they are better than you think it is:) No why do sec 1 exams start so late:( I think mine starts in week 3 :faint:

The first graded exam for sec 1 last year was math. Non-routine problem solving. It's very easy, don't worry too much. It's somewhere in week 6 last year...

No offence haha but scope notes are rubbish! The only part you should read is the Assessments part. The rest, just ignore. Nobody follows it and it makes everything sound much more difficult than it actually is πŸ™‚

Is it Necessary to Get the Vendor to do the MacBook Configurations at $150? Can We Do it Ourselves?

My hb Call up the Vendor, and enquire about what configurations R included in the service. Their Reply, \" Dunno. Sch Has not Tell us yet!\"
Dear Sec 1 parents, I've emailed Mrs Tan HOD ICT about MacBook configuration/ school needs for installation. She said by end of Jan a list application/ software needed by the girls will be prepared so that we can DIY.
You can email her too for clarification. She responds fast.

On the Order Form, it states: Please proceed to the service centre @RGS for installation/configuration and payment on or after 1st March, so maybe you can try calling the vendor mid to end Feb to get configuration requirements from them. πŸ˜‚

Have the Vendor Set up Shop for the service centre @RGS already?
Don't think I have seen it in the last couple of times we visited the sch ....
Don't think the vendor has set up the service centre @RGS yet. Checked with DD and she hasn't seen them either. Guess will have to wait till next month when everything is finalised. πŸ˜‰
