Can any parents share the link to EMB and the userid and password. My DS said he has forgotten about the link and did not want to probe too much as everynight he was drown in his piles of homework and last night complete all his homework by 1am.

      Dear Sama

Yes, i think all our DS are swarmed with work, projects, presentations, tests & more work. :slapshead:

For EMB, you can go via:
      - HCI website
      - Portals --> top right hand corner
      - EMBs (High School) --> under \"Students Portal\"

User ID is (class)(index number) (eg. 1A317)
Password is Birth Cert no. in full caps, including \"prefix\" and \"suffix\" (eg. S1234567A)

DS is even told to do up a blog for Science.. to input what has been learned during every lesson/what he understood from the lesson into the blog.

With the homework, presentations, research, reading of Mao's/Empire (supposed to finish reading them), Xi You Ji, blogs, memorising 3 chinese songs & 1 eng song, etc.. I can already foresee him perspiring & studying during CNY.. :scared:

      Dear Mum.com,

same here, he is required to setup a blog too and have to explain why ' I like Da Vinci'? Think no chance to relax during CNY.....maybe rest on first day of CNY and back to 'seas of school work' on day 2. He commented that he likes school but the school load comes all of the sudden and the boys finding it challenging to adjust :imdrowning:

Don't worry, they will soon get used to the pace and learn to manage their time. By the same time next year, they will look back and think this was the 'honey moon' period in comparison. My Sec 2 son is feeling like drowning now but I am sure he will soon feel better too.

Does anyone know/heard, please, if DS gets canoeing as CCA, how many times a week they practise and on what days?

DS received a sms from a Mr Yong, asking if he would like to join canoeing… (DS is not sure yet…)

He told him his classmate either go school earlier to do homework, or do during recess or inform teacher that he will stay behind after school to complete them. Just to gather some feedback if the same is happening to your DS class.[/quote

I share the same feeling... My DS received tons and tons of hmwk... Some of the subjects, the teachers did not even go thru the topics & expect them to do researchs & self-study... Furthermore, he had just recovered from a bout of fever that had spread across the entire school yet there isn't any high alert. Sometimes I pitied him... Hoping to reduce amount of stress but reject the ideas... As ultimately he has to learn to adapt to such lifestyle for the next 6 years. At times I am wondering whether I have chosen the right choice of putting him in this school. Any parents having the same feelings please share? :imdrowning:

            [/quote]Hi Lion_king,
Finally someone shares the same thought. For me, I just don't understand why the school emphasize some much on the chinese songs. DS has been worried about being sent to Q class if he can't master the songs. Even the adults have problem reading the chinese characters. My DH and I are seriously thinking of transferring him to another school.

Else we will become the laughing stock should this 'news' be circulated amongst the other schools. 😓
