      Hi Larkspur,

Thank you so much for yr feedback. I'm wondering how do I go about doing volunteer work for SHHK? I have only joined them for more than a year. Is there still time to do volunteer work? So if I'm lucky enough to get the referral letter, do I still need to ballot? However, if I didn't manage to get one, that means I have to go for phase 2C right? Then if still can't get in under 2C, can I apply for anchor green under 2C? Anchor green is my 2nd option. Is the school good? I have heard lots of good reviews about it. Anyone here has any opinion about the school?
You only can apply one school in one phase. So if u choose NCPS under P2C, u cant apply AGPS under P2C.
If cant get into NCPS in P2C, then u got no more chance to get into AGPS under P2CS.

Getting the letter only qualifies you to register in P2B. Whether you will need to go through balloting or not depends on demand vs supply. In the event that demand > supply, you may still need to go through balloting (because it depends on which distance category the balloting will be for).

        Yes.

No. If your child applies with Nan Chiau in P2C and doesn't get in, you will only be able to register for your child in P2CS. You will only be able to register with schools that still have vacancies in this phase. Vacancies for most of the popular schools are filled in by P2C.

hi, you can email to Sara at wangh@shhk.com.sg and in the email put your name and mobile number and state that you wan to be included in the volunteer lists. So once they need volunteer, they will mass mailed out to those in their volunteer list. Be sure to check your emails often cos volunteer in huay kuan very \"hot\". one tip though is that if you see an email from huay kuan informing new or big events or activities coming up, be sure to dilgently check emails cos for this kind of events they will need volunteer for sure.

For Anchorgreen, try not go into phrase 2c supp cos the balloting is very bad unless like my girl's best fren, her mummy try for nan chiau at 2c , couldnt get, went to anchorgreen at 2c supp, still suay, then later go sengkang primary but her mummy smart enough to put her name in the waiting list and just before school start, she got a call from anchorgreen that someone pull out, so she is given the priority cos her flat just next to the school. Think can see the inside of the school from her bedroom.

To check the distance between the schools and your house, please refer to One Map:

              http://www.onemap.sg/index.html

Please use the School Query function.

                Hi all,

This is my very first time to post and I’d like to seek your valuable advice.

My son is entering Primary School in 2013. We have searched some schools and come out with the following schools as options.

1)\tPei Chun Primary – We can register under Phrase 2A as my husband is an old boy from the school. But, I feel that the travel distance is quite far as we are staying in River valley.

2)\t ACS Junior - we can register under Phrase 2B as we are a Methodist church member. However, we should be going for balloting or maybe we don’t even have a chance of balloting as we are staying more than 2Km from the school.

3)\tRiver Valley - we can register under Phrase 2C as we are staying within 1Km from the school. However, from the balloting histories of this school, they might be a balloting even within 1Km, if we are not lucky. (There was only one time balloting within 1km for the past 5 years).

Considering this situation, Pei Chun will be the safest /less stressful choice but would the Pei Chun be the really “best choice” apart from the distance??

Or, would it be worthy to try ACS Junior even though the chance is so slim?

Apart from ACS Junior and not considering distance, which school would be a better choice between Pei Chun and River Valley, in terms of academic, environments etc?

If you were at my situation, which school would you choose?
Any advice will be really appreciated.

                Thanks

Perhaps you would like to make a self-intro at the Newbies thread? This is a SOP in KSP.com. 😉

                  kosyb:
                  1) Pei Chun Primary –...register under Phrase 2A...
                  2) ACS Junior -...register under Phrase 2B..
                  3) River Valley -...register under Phrase 2C

                  ...
If you were at my situation, which school would you choose?
What you can do is register with Pei Chun at P2A and monitor the situation for the other two schools.

Actually, the distance between River Valley and Pei Chun is not that long. There are parents staying in Punggol/Sengkang planning to send their children to NYPS. There are also parents staying in Yishun who send their children to Nan Hua in Clementi. Now, you tell me - which one is further? 😉

As for whether Pei Chun is the \"best\" school for your child, only you and your husband are able to answer this question. You know your child best.

besides wondering which sch is better, your real concern should be are you willing to risk Pei Chun for River Valley as you are unsure if River Valley has balloting. look at your back up plan for River Valley in the case if there is balloting for River Valley and you suay suay did not succeed. then compare between Pei Chun and that backup sch to see if it is worth to the risk to ballot.

alternative is, go for Pei Chun and then when sch starts, put yourself on River Valley's transfer list. there is always a better chance of transfer opportunity after P1 (but be prepared to wait until P2-P3 for that vacancy and be prepared for entry tests assessment if the sch decides to conduct any) as you are staying near to River Valley. then use this time to see if Pei Chun is suitable for your kid. downside is you have to convince your kid of the transfer later on.

                    just my opinion.

                      Hi, qms

I am sorry, I didn’t know that I need to make a self-intro first..I have been just reading through the posts from “P1-Registration~~” and was not aware of those thread. Btw, what is “SOP” and “KSP”,com?
It looks like I’ve just cut a que and made a posting here. Please excuse me.

I know my child best, of course, but honestly, I don't know much about the schools. 😓 I was not educated in Singapore and so I am not very familiar with the education systems/schools in Singapore.
What I know about the schools are, PeiChun is good for Chinese (is it called SAP school?) and ACS has affiliate secondary school, Pei chun and River valley are mix school /double session etc. That’s all I know about the schools.
I understand that it is the parent to decide a right school for their child. So, in order to make the better decision, I would like to have \"ANY\" valuable information from \"more experienced parents\". Thanks !

                      Hi, jedamum
Thanks for your feedback! I will take note for the option too. 😃

I think the choice is obvious. Choose Pei Chun and no stress…
