Pls visit their http://coe.xinminss.moe.edu.sg/xinminss/ which read :

Open House For Primary 6 students on 28 Nov 09 from 9 am to 3 pm
We will be holding this annual event on 28 Nov 09 from 9am to 3pm for Primary 6 students and their parents where a slew of activities is scheduled. Please inform your neighbours and relatives who might be interested in a school that provides high quality education.

To double check, I called the school (Xinmin) and was told that the 2nd open house date will be 28 Nov 2009. Hope this helps.

For those living in the West - Choa Chu Kang especially, the following info might be of use.


SECONDARY SCHOOLS FAIR , 10 AM TO 3 PM SATURDAY 7 NOV
HELD AT SOUTH VIEW PRIMARY SCHOOL

There will be talks and mini-exhibitions by Bukit Batok sec, Dunearn sec, Assumption English, Crescent Girls’, River Valley High, Unity, Hillgrove, SCGS, Bukit Panjang Govt High, Regent sEc, Swiss Cottage Sec, Zhenghua SEc, Hwa Chong Institution, Nanyang Girls’, Nan Hua High, Kranji SEc, Yusof Ishak SEc, School of the Arts, Chua Chu Kang Sec, Clementi Town Sec, Commonwealth Sec.

The fair is meant for all P5 and P6 students and their parents from SVPS.

But I guess, there is no harm just going there to take a look if you are living nearby and are interested to know more about the above schools in the West.

thank you for informing sec sch fair at SVPS.

to other parents, I like to share what I learnt. Didn’t have time to attend all.

Nan Hua: has 11 classes of express, each about 40-43 students.

Commonwealth: One boy, I think from lower sec coz he wore shorts, can answer my questions pretty well, so I guess his confidence/public speaking skills was learnt from sch. Sch starts 8.00am (has to reach 7.30 am for flag raising).

BPGHS: the VP speaks very well. No doubt it is best sch from CCK.

CTSS: it is the only sch that allows NA students to take max 3 "O" subjects at sec 4. 2nd half of sec 2, no exams but have project work.
The VP stressed that CTSS is always value adding its students / staff / sch. It has 10 ex-students currently teaching in this sch (MOE set 10%). They don’t use MOE texts, they use texts by their own teachers. 3rd week in Jan every yr, they go for adventure camp (3D2N). They just shifted to new premise (behind Clementi Pri, 5 min walk from MRT), so can enjoy full facilities. Every Mon, sch starts 8.45am.
