MummySTay:
that's why it always has the longest namelist....
We had a few basketball players (mainstream girls) who successfully DSAed into RGS and NYGH last year.Funz:
Which of these 2 CCA is better in RGPS?
Basketball or softball?
Dunno about softball, though.
-
Softball is also very sought after, go for it! not that easy to get in. I told my girl to apply about 2 yrs back when they introduced softball in school, she told me the girls were observed and selected already. Also good for DSA. Highly recommended!!

DD now P3 has been in basketball since last year. She was identified as one with potential and is now training to be selected for the school team.
This term, for PE the girls are introduced to softball. After 2 sesssions, the softball coach encouraged DD go join softball as a CCA and to train for the school team.
DD is kinda torn as she enjoys both.
Yes at the back of my mind there is the DSA possibility that is why I was curious about which CCA is better.
DD is short. That is a disadvantage in basketball. She is pretty agile but has problems putting the ball in the hoop. So I am wondering if softball may give her a better chance of making it into the school team to take part in tournaments. And well there is also the irrational thought that the softball uniform is cool.
Will talk to DD again and get her to find out how if she wants to switch from basketball to softball. -
Hi Funz,
It would definitely be an advantage to be VERY tall if you are trying out for basketball DSA. The RGS school team members are very very tall. So are the netballers. -
My DD was chosen to be in the netball development squad in P3. However, she is very tiny. So this year, I put her in Tennis. RGPS only groom serious tennis players andyou will definitely be in school team as the team is really small. The fees are high though.

Think in almost every sport being tall is an advantage. Except maybe for gymnastics. Unfortunately, DD has short parents so even if she is taller than both DH and myself, she will still not be THAT tall.

C3P0:
currently rgps running double session.Dear parents,
RGPS has it's vacancies reduced over the years (270 is latest number).
I've called the school to enquire about future vacancy but they say it's only available before the balloting exercise.
May I know if there's any news or indication that the vacancy will be further reduce within the next 2 years?
I stay within 1km of RGPS but saw from the statistics that in past 2 years, it's getting competitive due mainly to reduction in vacancies available.
Thanks in advance to any kind soul who can help me....
heard news this year won't cut, intake remain as 9 classes (270).
But next year slash to 8 classes.
after that, stabiize at 8 classes (240), classes 1A to 1H.
won't cut below 8.

if our Chinese dance team can produce a consecutive 2ND Gold next year, they can go overseas travel for CCA.
