During my gal's yr, there was a Tea session held on the PTM day.

( oh yes, i recalled that we parents, here, were complaining why must we pay for the PTM,
and the refreshments offered were :slapshead: lol)
U would be sitting with the FT on the same table.
There was no time allocation to meet diff subj teachers,
U would need to move fr 1 table to another, if u wanna to meet and talk to the subj Ts,
T's names were clearly displayed on each table.
And yes, it was a saturday's afternoon.......provided there is no change.
Thanks, Augmum :hugs: . You are the best, always patiently answering we newbies DHS parents' questions :snuggles: !

Like that I must get my DS to give me list of subject teachers, then scrutinised the tables to look for teachers  ! Ok, seems like afternoon leave is enough 😉

So, the teachers do not have a list of \"must meet\" parents - those that they want to see to highlight student's \"inadequacies\" Moreover, it is so open (not one-to-one) so when teacher communicate to parents, all other parents can hear since they are sitting around the table? 😓 Must tell DS he better be good and do ok, else everyone is going to know about his reputation! :rotflmao:

You may sit with the FT/co-FT/subject teacher, it depends on the parents’ responses from that class. If all the parents from a class turn up for the PTM, then you may sit with co-FT/subject T. Parents’ with kids from the same class will sit together but some will ‘overflow’ to the next class if more than 2 tables are needed for that class…

Yes, it was very "open" few years ago, the teacher will just "announce" the grade and give comments in front of a group of parents …
The list of subject teachers together with contact will be given before the meeting.

Hi Augmum, saw your post in RV thread regarding HSK. Didn't know that there is this oral component. Was it stated in the memo? Maybe I have missed it.

              Thanks for sharing.

              Nightrace,

How yr son feel abt today's briefing on the HSK test ??
Gal feedback that it was a waste of time of 2 over hrs sitting in LT,
And pupils were making noises abt the whole briefing,
which is so slow-paced and time consuming......
As they want an earlier dismissal so as they can make use of the time for chionging other stuff which are more urgent,
Some said that they even have CCA to attend.
Btw, she said that the examples of questions given by the speaker are so Easy, nothing compared to their HCL std.

Also, there is no oral component,
dunno why the other day her teacher told them that there would be an oral test,
even prepared them for oral test by doing class presentation. :?

And yes, heard from her frens that some classes' chinese teachers make it optional to take this test,
But for her class, her CL teacher made it compulsory for every1 ?? :scratchhead:

              Hi Augmum,

Which grade did ur dd opt for? 5 or 6?
Examples are so easy? Wow! her std must be very high.
According to DS, the trial paper they did was not easy.
They had to listen to whole long compre and do 50 mcq.
Another component, they have to read 1000 words passage in 10mins and do summary based on memory of the passage as the passage will be collected after reading. :yikes:

No oral for the written component, you have to pay extra $60 to opt for oral.

Well....this is what i heard from my gal......
Dont think it is becos of her HCL std, she said that all her frens were saying the same thing during the briefing....
\" So easy, straight forward questions, as compared to their existing HCL std \".
i am not too sure which grade she had chosen as i recalled
she did ask me this question before as which grade to choose,
and i told her that it was up to her to decide on it.

Yes, she did tell me  yesterday that the trial paper had near to 50 MCQ questions for the listening comprehension,
And abt 10 short passages for comprehension questions.
The last component being the 书写 。
Or Perhaps, they both might be referring to diff grade ??

Arhh.....i also cant remember how much did we pay for it as it was sometime ago.
Nowadays, i cant keep track of all her stuff as they are really loaded with too much stuff,
their school workload is unexpectedly high.....
so many things all due on the same day.....poor kids.... 😓 :faint:

Oh yes, def no privacy in this case as there are parents crowding ard the teacher.
I think for any sensitive issue, usually parent would arrange with the teacher on another day for discussion.

                      Hi

Re PTM with the teachers, what happens if parents have to work full day on Saturdays and it’s not possible to take leave? Can we arrange for a separate day to meet? or do we have to do it over the phone?

I asked him to consult his CL teacher whether to take grade 5 or 6 and I think he is taking 5.
