Hmm, I also think my idea is good.
I like this. It shows that schools are immaterial. So, just congregate the children of alumni in any schools and they will make these schools 'good'. Then, we will have more and more good schools.Lyddon:
Schools are the PRODUCT of the alumni. Schools benefited from alumni.
And bcoz schools are the product and they benefited from it, alumni's offspring should be accorded priority to further let schools benefit from alumni and possibly deprive another \"staying nearby\" of the chance?
Schools contributed.. yes.
But they contribute as a way of paying back what they have TOOK from the Alumni ... by providing the standard education/syllabus that they have received from MOE to the students.
Schools took.. Alumni contributed, and Schools took it again from their Alumni's offspring.. and they take it again from their grand off spring.. and they take and take and take and take................................................
their schools may have contributed.. they may not have contributed more than the Alumni has given.. but even if they did not.. the alumni still gave ....
:rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Hmm, MOE should seriously consider this.
But I fine tune it a little....
MOE should seriously consider this.
Propose to create :
1) Nanyang Primary - Yishun, Jurong, Bedok branch / Campus.
2) Catholic High - Woodland, Boon Lay, Geylang branch / Campus.
3) Rosyth - Sengkang, Sembawang, Selegie Road campus.
4) Any other top 10 most popular schools are welcome to apply.
Just like INSEAD / Duke / Yale setting up affliated programs in singapore.
We should also expand our \"brandname\" primary schools to Malaysia, Indonesia and other countries.
Add a bit more snazzy marketing by MOE, our PM chop/stamp/endorse, and chio chio a few billionaires from India/China/US to send their kids there...
... and wah lah!
We'll have more than enough places for Singaporeans (alumni, PVs, clans, Religion, distance-based etc) , PRs and Foreigners. -

Thought similar ideas have been discussed?

Because....
alamak, then what is everybody fighting over?
MOE definition of good school is different from some parents' definition of good school.
Like Mr Mah used to define that HDB as \"afforable\" ... you say HDB afforable or not leh?

Lyddon:
Exactly, so no matter how the schools are renamed, it also won't work.

So pls tell me - what's sooooo special abt alumni that they warrant unlimited entry criteria vs church n clan?
Very question....I also very interested to know.
