The Kumon Phonics Kits are good too!

I have the Telling Time one as well. I
bought them to standby for chubs. :please:

I find them handy n compact for something
to occupy children on the move. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Apart
from the iPad and iPhone. :politebleah:

Wow, you attended Kumon classes too! I have yet to start my boy on \"Simple Addition\" or \"Simple Time\" yet although I have already bought the books and his kindy is going to teach time in Term 3! I tried to teach my boy time using magnetic tiles but he does not seem to be interested. Guess will try during the June hols. using the Kumon books see whether that will work better!

What do you think of the Kumon classes? What's the difference between going for classes and using the DIY books?

        Hi DesertWind! ๐Ÿ˜„
I enrolled my DS in Kumon Maths as I wanted to increase his concentration skill (he was v active) and trained his writing strokes, besides of course learning the proper counting/addition which he couldnt previously. It has been afew mths since he attended and find that its pretty beneficial for him. Nowadays he will automatically whip out his worksheet and do by himself each day. His writing improved alot too.

As for Kumon books, i am currently using Kumon English, not Maths. The series of Rhyming Words & Phrases etc... I thk these series also train him to rem'ber the words that he learnt at his own Phonics class.
I also like their MAZE series alot.

 Actually, I refer to them as kits as they're so handy to bring out & something for kiddies to do on the move rather than just be glued to iPhones or iPads.

They are actually very thick reusable flashcards kept in a box & comes with a small marker with an attached duster. They have for example in the short vowels set.. 3 letter phonetic words within a family on one card.. like bat.. hat.. cat.. in hollow letters. Inside those hollow letters are dotted lines for children to trace (the letters). On the reverse, there are pictures of the bat, hat and cat.

          The box looks like this.

I bought it for $16.80 at the children's dept @ Shaw (Lido) where there's a table with a variety of books and cards are being displayed.. in btwn stationery, shoes and toys section. I got all three titles there Short Vowels, Long Vowels and Telling Time. ๐Ÿ˜„

You can also but them at MumsnBabes online. They are having promotion for some titles for the Kumon books... going at $9.90. You may want to check them out at this link. > http://mumnbabes.com/shop/index.php?cPath=73

          Hope this clarifies. :celebrate:

              Hi,

Does anyone know where to get those kind of exercise books with 3 line spacing for kids to write the tall and short letters properly? I know we can print those handwriting papers online, but would prefer those in the form of an exercise book.

              Thanks.

                        buds,

my P4's handwriting is still quite bad, especially chinese characters.
any 'quick fix' i can do to turn this around during June holidays?
should i get him to copy compos? what to do if every character is written unsatisfactorily? rewrite that character 10times? the more he writes the worse it gets it seems. :stupid: he only writes neatly when he is doodling his stickman complete with speech bubbles...but that is in english characters!
