Went to JTB at Ion yesterday. They don't seem to know much and keep referring me to go to JNTO at OCBC building along Shenton way...

Dunno about JTB but I have been to JNTO to collect brochures to plan my trips. I even asked the JNTO staff at the counter to help me clarify the usage of the Suica and Pasmo and Icoca stored value cards. She was very patient and even printed out a page for me from the internet to keep for reference. Before my turn, there was a couple there who had obviously never been to Japan before but wanted to go F&E. They told her what they wanted to experience and see and their budget and dates, and she gave several recommendations. They left satisfied and with a better idea on how to plan their trip.

So, in short, do drop by their office, and even if you don't ask them any questions, pick up the flyers/brochures they have on display. I think they only open during office hours on weekdays (i.e., they don't close late) and I can't remember if they open on weekends.

        lizawa:
Check out the N'Ex timetable. Depending on what time you are arriving at the airport, and where you are going to alight, the N'EX may not stop at all stations in Tokyo. I remember in the afternoon, some N'EX does not stop at Ikebukuro.

There used to be a promotion, N'EX 1-way from airport + a 2000yen value suica, for only 3000+ yen (something like that). You can use the Suica for all your local JR transport.
Yes, I agree with lizawa. There are limited trains to Ikebukuro each day and the seats can get snapped up pretty fast. Try to get the N'EX + Suica package as it's really worth it.

yep… probably get the N’EX + Suica package from Narita airport.

We’re arriving 820PM… the route shows that it will stop at Shinagawa so i think we’re safe with that option…

          7 more days! can’t wait!!!

If you need to transit, it's best to avoid big, complicated stations like Tokyo. Shinagawa is okay. When I planned the bullet train trip from Kyoto to Ikebukuro, I specifically chose to change trains at Shinagawa instead of Tokyo cos I feared getting lost in Tokyo station, especially when the rest of my family were depending on me to be their guide-tour operator-interpretor. 😓

            Have fun! 🙂

They can't even confirm if the Airport Limo requires an exchange of coupons/tickets before boarding the Limo... They confirmed that the Website says the counter will close at 6pm (i thought it was 7pm)... yet they say its okay... no change of tickets to coupons necessary to board the limo...

We booked our Airport Limo bus from the hotel. They did check our tickets before we board the bus.

Just found the Highway Bus schedule that goes to Mt Fuji from Shinjuku station.

So they DO have trips to Mt FUJI even during the off-peak season.

But I think it depends on the weather whether you can go up to the 5th station of Mt Fuji though (any higher u have to trek). While we were there last week (seemed ages now ;-<), we saw snow along the road up already. Checkout the wild deers along the drive way as well as the small temple and souvenir shop at the 5th station but was told that the souvenir shop may decide to close as early as 4 pm if they do not see any tourist bus/crowd. & it’s cold & windy - do bring along winter wear clothings.
