Glucosamine - which brand is good?
-
Doctors all recommend Viartril S effervescent glucosamine. Available at pharmacies.
This is better than the capsule or tablet versions. I personally took it and it was good.
Aside from taking glucosamine, you can think of losing weight too. I lost 11kg and now have no pain even without taking glucosamine.
An extra 1kg of weight = 5kg on your knees! -
Ironically, I encountered knee pain because I started exercising.
I was completely pain free when I was a couch potatoe. -
Can try the TGV Glucosamine cream that applies directly to knees and joints. My parents in law swear by it. They say applying works better than consuming glucosamine tablets. No pain and can walk better.

That's the misconception that you can only lose weight by doing a lot of exercise. If you have pain in your knees, you cannot lose weight by exercising such as jogging. You are putting more strain on the joints. I couldn't even jog when I was fatter. Try losing weight by eating less carbo and smaller meals first. You can do light exercise only like yoga, no jogging pls.Ironically, I encountered knee pain because I started exercising.

I lost weight by eating less, not thru exercise. -

Could be plantar fasciits. I had that few years back and suffered for a few months before deciding to see the doctor. Was prescribed some medicine which cured it. -

Oh, my mum has that problem for years. She said just need to wear bedroom slippers to walk around the house, don't go barefoot. Didn't realise it's a medical condition. I will ask her to see a doctor. Thanks!jedamum:

I always eat little & very ęø č° le, that's why I have the luxury to be a couch potato & still stay slim. But I suddenly gained 6 kg over a few months period without any change in diet. Drink water also grow fat!

My doctor said it's due to slowing metabolism rate so she asked me to exercise. Didn't jog at all. Just some gentle weight lifting and simple aerobic moves (no jumping or skipping) follow by abdominal crunch at least 150 times and floor stretching exercises. -

thanks for providing me with a term for my pain.
did you need any xray done?
my husband is concerned about the medication to be given.
every morning wake up with pain whenever i started walking. it gets better when i wear heels (surprisingly) and painfully painful when i wear flats/slippers. one episode last year it was so severe that i could barely walk. will it go away by itself or via any physiotherapy i can do at home? -

I didn't do any xray. Went to a polyclinic and the doctor prescribed medication to be taken over a few days. Can't remember if it was like a week or so. It is an inflammation so the medication helps with that. No physio for me but after taking medication, the pain went away completely. Touch wood, it has been few years since that episode. Like you, I always started the day with lots of pain and it gets better as the day progresses. I didn't know what was wrong. Took me several months before I went to see the doctor. It was such an easy cure that I regretted not seeing the doctor earlier. I recommend you to visit the doctor asap and if it is the same problem, you should be free from pain soon. Take care.
